sounds to me you don't love your GSXR. fair enough, good to have a bike you love rather than like.

as others said don't let the hp figures put you off test riding one you like the look of.
i would love to get a mid 90's 900 SS.

i think test ride a few dukes, an ape and maybe even a buell and see which one you love the most. then get it.

Take a 999 for a test ride, and if you don't feel like you've just entered a whole new riding experience (and I'm sure you will) don't buy one...

but be sure to test ride it somewhere on a real biking road, then it will fly.

(twins have a better torque curve than 4's, you won't think you've lost any horses I can assure you)

Why wouldn't it cut it?

An old saying - "People buy horsepower, but they drive torque." Torque is force, and force causes acceleration. Horsepower is marketing dribble and costs you money.

That's lovely and all... but he's coming from a bike that has both in abundance... a GSXR1000 torque curve isn't exactly lacking anywhere. If you haven't already, have a look at the 999 and GSXR1000 torque curves overlayed... the whole twins have more torque is pretty much a fallacy in this instance.

Absolutely. All I'm saying is don't write off less powerful bike without looking at how much torque it has and its spread. Plus, of course, getting out on the road and trying it.
