too many k's on a rgv 250?

he was wondering if 48grand is alot 4 a two stroke? and i honestly wouldnt know. my rg 150 has done 17grand.. but its not much of a tourer and the last owner never really took it out of town...
could anyone tell me?

It will be due its second rebuild very shortly... Unless you know rebuild and service history, steer clear of it...

And an RGV is no Sports tourer, and if your mate is looking at a RGV as a first bike, suggest something different, not the best first bike at all...

imho, not a great first bike at all, they're crazy quick for a learner, and as for the k's, I'd just buy, rebuild and ride...

At 48kms I would start looking at the bottom end if it hasnt been done already. The bottom end had gone on one I brought at 40kms, and its not a cheap exercise.

Hmmm.
Bad choice for a first bike, (or anyone who hates spanners and oil), but for under 2K, if it runs alright, could be a bargin in the right hands.
Top end/bottom end..... it all how it's been looked after. Might be fine.
With a cheap purchase price, spend the extra on a rebuild sometime...
Very hard to say without seeing it.



Still not a good choice for a first bike though.

If you've been looking at the auction the question on the swingarm pivot actually tells you how hard a prang it's had, sideways forces on the swingarm (I know cause mine had it ) Yeah, if I get it I'll probably be keen to hock off some parts, but I do want to end up with a complete set of spares at the end of it so probably not getting rid of the parts you want CG. Rodders has a few spares by the sounds of it so if you want one or two pieces drop him a msg,

IMHO, for a racing breed 2-stroke, 48k is high, but RGV250s have wicked 0-100 times.

A mate used to run a tidy import 10yrs ago. Expensive little bikes to run; Drank heaps of petrol and oil and then rewarded him with an engine seizure midway between Nelson and Picton.

If it's for a learner, walk on, their power/weight ratio is a quick ticket to 6 foot under.

They can be painful to own at times but they reward you with handling and performance that it will take another decade for the 4stroke 250's to manage.
