    high speed chase

Sitting at red light in New Lynn Ak approx 11am, Biker comes thru from green on left doing bout 120, corners like a real pro and opens up his (1300?) Yamaha, lifts front wheel out of the turn, and looks sky ward. WTF? I think.
Only one reason you look up doing those speeds... police chopper.
then sirens approach, 5 cop cars sail thru lights after biker, closest car (bout 20 secs behind,) does much worse job cornering, and loses more time.
biker must've doubled back bout 2 mins later towards Waitacs, as cops trailed back down other side of New Lynn with chopper in tow. still hearing sirens 20 mins later!!
    Anyone else catch this action??
Any more insights to what was going on?
Biker was lightly dressed, no 'proper' protection apart from helmet.
No bank bag full of money, no pack. Must've been a runner.
With my beer tinted glasses I'm ready to biddy battle,
I'm hungry like the wolf, but I'll end up tending cattle!

    lamo..
cops might as well give up and save a big crash and just let the biker slow it down before s/he is killed with a few other people and just let the chopper watch from a distance. When the bike pulls over, then point the cops there.
No point chasing, cos they'll never catch 'um..

choppers have bout 4 hours flight time (plus saftey reserve).
keep away from em for 4 hours and you might be able to find a safe garage.
Not many get away except in the ambulance or worse.

at a good get-away pace, would you have 4 hours of fuel in your bike..?
plus there's more than one chopper, isn't there..?

I'd run out of fuel wait. What if you headed for the airport, in movies they arent allowed to go around the airport lol.

    God I'm a loser.

Thats why you work a lead, go fill and then boost off heading north that way they might be scared off.

But seriously a refill in a chase would be easyish propably not for me - first check tires, then check chain, then clean visor, then re-arrange myself etc - I'm to pedatic at fuel stops, if you work it out well enough you would be fine, just make sure they can box you in, its not like they would shoot you or anything , or you could spend the entire chase on your front wheel...

or you could just not run..
but may be that's just me..

I have wondered tho, if I could do it. You see it too much in video games etc, and it kinda works, but that's just video games, anything's possible. But then on the road, there's other real people, and when you bin, you don't bounce like the vid games. And in GTA, when you get busted, you just end up in front of the copshop and you're off again.. yeah, may be not, ay?

Also, you are up against a team trained to stop you with a variety of tools designed to do the job.
I know of a few who have evaded minor pursuit, but 5 cops in a row on your tail, a chopper in the sky, and who knows how many waiting on escape route.
Only on one of Johns movies!

Still pisses me off that they cant use guns. I'd like to see some tire shooting.

But still - I'd love to try it one day, in a controlled condition on a ZX6RR would be fun as bloody hell I would imagine, then just pull over when you hear a chopper and say that you didnt see them.

Or do a gone in 60 seconds, and get elanor to boost the helicopter, would be possible if you had some nosed up high ratio beast I supose.
