All engine parts available out of the UK except cylinders which are ex Japan. Can still get genuine pistons from Kawasaki. MXparts here in NZ can supply mitaka piston kits for around $125 and forged Wossner piston kits for $150. Once rebuild with modern materials I haven't had any issues. Back in the day they had a problem with piston ring locating pins moving and the rings exiting out the exhaust port. Result knackered piston and cylinder!

Now c'mon George your not being totally honest here mate.Balance shafts not set up correctly can lead to some unreal vibration issues apparently, causing a quite inconsiderable shedding of parts...good for liteness/handling tho.
A good tip for free is to install an RGV radiator as this helps KR's run at optimum temp and thus full power. If you hav'nt done this yet I recommend you get right on it as it's worth doing.

All you 250 four strokers should not be put off by George's proud KR1s boasting as smoker ownership comes at a heavy cost...much like a raging P habit it's users develop a thousand yard stare and it age's you no end (George is only 21 but already looks mid 30ish)also a slight nervous tremor can cause left handed twitching.

Makes him easy to spot in the pits tho.

RG150 read grossly inaccurately but around 165-170indicated I suppose (more like 155k) certainly left my friends 2000 VTR250 for dead though

88' NSR250 MC18 trackbike was hauling ass right up until it seized at ruapuna, no speedo unfortunately - would've liked to have kept that bike

my kr-1 would get well past the 190 mark on the speedo at around 9.5k rpm with the S engine haha soon found out that over revving it was not an intelligent thing to do (A good 3 4ths of an inch off the clock).. now i need to do a full rebuild. damn expensive to do on the little sucker. still, goes a hell of a lot faster than my nc24, which also has seemed to poo itself... sadly both bikes seem to be an arse to get parts for..

Lol in most cases, Nitrous Oxide doesn't affect top speed (this is usually dependant on your gearing) rather than your acceleration. Unless, of course, you have upgraded your sprockets, for a higher top speed...

got the CBF250 up to 140, doing almost 10k revs.. Got kinda scared and slowed down to 130, which is where I'm comfortable with the revs as well, at ~9k.
Life is just too damn short for if's and maybe's..

There is no substitute for a two stroke when it comes to 250's
Most will easily match a 400 four stroke and in the right hands
on a good road will tag along with a 600.
Unresticted they'll give you a good 50-60 bhp which makes
the 25 -40 for most 250 four strokes look pitiful.

    George this is your fault
I was over the whole KR addiction until i got your PM today
