I've never tried with weight transfer on one of them.....Sounds a bit like a mate of mine who had a CBR400RR that would "lift the front in third on the power".
Thing was raped and couldn't outrun my CB400

Your givn it shit in second make it lift. I have different sprocket sizes. I gt a renthal kit for rgv from the uk. I assume it contributes majorly to my ratios. So yer, i doubt a stock rgv would. It needs to be worked.
The only other option is to A- Grow up or B- Sort your shit out.

I could get one.like i said to the other guy my rgv has got different sized sprockets, i got more acceleration over top speed, the renthal kit i got downsizes from 14 to 13 and 43 to 41. I assume this contributes. But like i said it hits 180 and taps against itself, a digital speedo would be the one. To get a solid reading.

I'm keen to see a vid of it, i'd be hella impressed if it's doing it on the power in second Would be a neat video for sure.

Those sprocket sizes equate to a small difference, 6kmh in top gear at 12000rpm.

It's bloody quick and lifts the front wheel in second no sweat, he's doing it all the time but as has been said, it's geared slightly down and the front suspension is also a bit bouncy which helps heaps. These are fast bikes and will keep with a 600 to 100kph.
...Full throttle till you see god, then brake.

Vids or it didn't happen. I haven't ridden one that'll keep up with my fat old 600 in a straight line.

I'll put a fair bit of money down I can launch Chance's RGV250 to 100 as fast or faster than your 600. A ZZR600 is not the fastest and an RGV250 is 120kg...No problems.

Cool, I'm not worried if it does. Would be nice to see one that's finally as fast as I keep getting told. The best ones I have ridden would take most 400s I have ridden, which certainly isn't fast. Or wheelie tastic. The 600 will be doing mid 3s to 100 and mid 11s down the strip, the RGV250J manage a high 12 in perfect conditions. Would be interested to see a decent test of how quick a top notch one is

Above 100, no comparison. But 120kg bike is not to be messed with in a launch!

There's no doubt about that, I'd be quite interested to see an RGV launched properly. I only have 90 odd horse at the wheel, not much by now days standards, but, it doesn't have gearing like the newer 600s either and has more power down low. So I'll keep mine, because it's a great bike to ride every day and long distance

Truth be told I've been tempted to find myself a nice NSR as a toy.

http://youtu.be/watch?v=aRrQ8bkfk9c&feature=related A slow RGV.... Or is that normal?

Come meet up with us if your in aucklandBesides that meh who cares whats faster lets just go nuts and get some serious downs. Id prefer my rgv over ur zzr just cos thea awesome to rebuild and tinker with knowing that the will be mint when ur finished. Plus its light and agile. U can throw it down around twisties like theres no tommorow.

My thoughts exactly, I'd rather ride my ZZR in town or long distance, but, I'd take the RGV any day when it comes to having a blast on my favourite roads Really makes my want to get a little two stroke, massive fun on my local thrash roads.

I'll take that bet. Having owned 4 RGV's they're certainly fast little bikes, but a semi decent ZZR600 is actually a deceptively fast machine. Not to mention will require no gear changes during the 0-100 sprint.

Check the tested times from the era, you'll probably find an RGV goes 0-100 in around 4.5 seconds, and a ZZR sub 4.

Still 4.5 to 4 when a zzr is twice as big. + more.
