Those things are ridiculous. I read on another forum that the lap times are only a few seconds slower than 500gp bikes in their day.

This is also with another decade's worth of chassis and suspension advancement, not to mention faster riders...

Faster riders hmm mmm not so sure about that but yeah it's the rest of the bike that makes the big difference.

When I said ridiculous I was referring to the whole thing.

On another note, I think it would be interesting to see how fast a modern Ninja 250 could be made to go if it was hella worked.

Haven't heard of any really worked ones yet. I'm sure it will happen by the time they're 20 years old too haha.

Probably only as fast as a stock zxr... No matter how hard you work it, it's just a modern gpx, not a high revving inline four

Used to have a VTR 250 that could go to 145 on a straight or 150 with a bit of wind behind you.. secret to riding this bike is to have the 3rd gear at the sweet spot 'round 8000-8500 rpm for the power to roll on - I remember the pull vividly

Indicated 110 km/h with head on the tank on my Shanyang SY50 (50 cc 4 stroke) (speedo goes all the way to 180!). Took the GPS out to check...actually only 81.4km/h

Still damn good for what it is!
