    Oldschool!!!

The old 250,s (cbr, zxr etc) will waste any of the newer 250s. And the cbrs are still bullet proof after almost 20yrs. Ive owned 2 cbr250s, a nsr and an rgv. Got both cbrs off the clock, so 190kmh ish. Then got it past 200kmh, in the redline 6th gear, drafting behind a mtes vfr400r. The 2stroke nsr and rgv have rediculous acceleration for a 250 but still wont go much past 200kmh. A mate who owned a hyo gt250r seized the rear cylinder doing 180kmh... Nuff said there If it was me buying another 250 id go for the older 4cylinder bikes. Proper sports bikes.
lets flip a coin... HEADS i get TAIL, TAILS i get HEAD

the problem now though, is that after 20 years of being treated like that (and largely by noobs that dont know what chain lube is, or when the proper service intervals are etc etc etc) they are no longer as reliable as they once were.
even the ones in reasonably good nick have deteriorated in other ways. things like brake lines arent designed to be 'for life' items, they should be replaced.
So while they may have the edge in a top speed run over newer 250s, they just don't have the reliability in the long term of ownership.

there is a bit more to it that just having the fastest bike out there.

and before you try rip me out for saying that when I have an R1, I will point out that I had plenty of 'slow' bikes in my time.

Having a bike that 'could' go 200 if it wasnt laying in the shed fucked isnt nearly as good as a bike thats 2 years old, still under warranty and isnt going to need any attention for the next 3-5 years, even though it taps out at 150-160-180 whatever

It's interesting seeing people only making mid hundred's out of 250ccs, when I managed to squeeze 124km/h in fourth gear out of my 125 (down a slope) a few months ago.

Perhaps I need to tone down my interpretation of the word 'thrashing'

It fell into a magnetic field. You will find these in zxr stopping magnitude to the west of a bullshit laboratory.

You may have killed the child at the invisible door, this is due to motorcycles and their respective riders being improbably dangerous.

Now the ZXR will be gone for ever.

On a happy note, who gives a fuck?

Timed at the Wairarapa Sprints some years back at 213 average over a flying quater on my RGV250K. Interstingly, it was 6 kays faster than my friends RGV250N (with me riding it), we put it down to the K having a much smaller frontal area although it made it fucking hard to tuck in on.

Friend's said the VL250 can't go over 150km/h due to some limiter as he's noticed the needle pulls back every time he approaches 150.

I personally haven't managed to get the bike over 130 and that requires somewhat of a downwards slope ...

    A VL250 won't be limited to 150, as it won't do 150
