No, not necessarily - I've been riding on and off for 8 years and I've not crashed a bike yet. (OK, technically I have, but it just laid down cos it was tired at 1 kph, so not really a crash as such.) And I'm clumsiness personified - my partner is astonished because I'm the only person who can walk into both sides of a doorway....when only passing through it ONCE!

that may be true but no one in the history of crashing has every thought - midcrash- "Crap, I wish I had less gear on"

That could have something to do with the 'on and off' part.

Then again, it's not that hard to do a hundred thousand kilometres of riding at the speed limit on main highways without falling off, and then turn up on the internet and claim to be an Experienced Motorcyclist (tm).

I'm sure there are none of those around here, though.

You again. You're going to have to do better than that to get a bite out of me.

It's all to do with angles of deflection. Like the ball in the old pinball machines.
That, and how much alcohol one has consumed.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Me? Well, in the few years since I've last graced this corner of the internet I've moved across the country, got into my second year at architecture school, and believe it or not, booked in for my BHS (oct 10th, if all goes to plan).

Only took me half a decade, I'm a regular poster child for action.
