Cool bike man.Looks the biz.![]()
Mods, not much as far as i know.
Vance & Hines pipe(with baffles now)
Forcewinder intake.
Rode the R1 down to Bulls on friday morning,
Just over 1100ks for the round trip.
It was a painfully slow trip down trying to keep under instant loss
of license speeds.
The only interesting bits for the R1 where the Bit besides Taupo and the couple of winding bits on the Desert road,
I Don't think mister Porsche driver liked being overtaken around the 25k corner.....what double yellow lines?.
Swapped bikes over and came home friday arvo.
Now the trip home was a lot lot more enjoyable,
The X1 is a hell different bike to ride,
The clutch pretty much in or out,not ahell of a lot of movement on the lever, easy to stall with out giving it a handful of gas.(as i found out).
You have to be forceful with the gear changes, really push that shifter,
especially the 1st-2nd change.
Once you get ya head around it it shifts pretty good.(for a tractor)
The brakes where utter crap, felt like there was wood in place of brake pads.
(fixed that with a couple of flushes and bleeding them, along with filing the pads Down).
It vibrates like a lezzies best friend.
No wonder every thing is loctited on.
It hates being doing under 3k revs, trys kicking and bucking
like ya wifes sister.Nice lumpy cams....
It hates doing any of the speed limits,
50k's(30MPH,speedo is in MPH) to slow for 3rd gotta rev it in second
70-80k's(45-50MPH) lugging in 4th or revving in third
100k's(62MPH) just feels so slow, gottaa be in 4th
It wants to (and could)sit on 80MPH all day long, doing 4k
redlines at 7k(Not instant loss of license speed, which is good)with plenty of power left for overtaking.
All it wants is to be trashed thru the gears to 80-90MPH
then either cruise or rinse and repeat.
loves the corners aswell.
Good on gas too, averaged just over 19k's per Litre.
Got home at 11pm after 1100ks and didn't wanna stop.
wanted to carry on,another 500ks would've done.
It has that awesome down low grunt of a 100hp twin.
Overall I love it.....![]()
