    Free apprentice lol - Christchurch

Hiya. Not sure if I should be posting this in here or in maintenance. Anyway since I have a harley thought I would try here. I have been doing some work on my bike lately. Pretty much just learning as I go along. Just wondered if anyone is doing a rebuild or just general maintenance or mods? I am happy to help them out with some free labour in return for learning more about the workings of bikes. Cheers.

    Hi Rosie.

I do my own work and sometimes it can be more involved than just a service. For example, changed the lifters on my last Road King and put in adjustable push rods, stripped and rebuilt my crashed Evo Springer, and, oh, whatever comes along. Haven't had to pay a dealership to do anything as yet. I've a pretty well equipped garage with lift etc. (well, as soon as I move the furniture out and tools in - just renovating at the mo).

Anyway, next time I'm doing any work (next HD can't be too far away) I'll be sure to give you a shout.

    :-)

So am I. Sometimes takes me a while but I get there. Factory manuals are the way to go and any excuse to buy more tools :-)

Yep. My tool collection is expanding slowly. Anyone else do their own work. Doesn't have to be just harleys. Happy to help with anything.

Wrong end of the country for you but my suggestion would be to get something that interests you in cheap as chips condition and pull it to bits and then put it back together.

Yeah, I'd love to get an old ironhead sporty to do that to, but unfortunately my one bike eats all my dollars. Maybe once I have that one the way I want it.
