    Its a bit wet today.

Took the Firestorm to Wellington today for a course, good ride in as far as Paraparaumu, then it started raining. Thats ok, was still a good ride in to town.

Enjoyed the course, had a coffee in town with my Ma, and headed home.

Man, pretty wet and windy trip home. Just out of Shannon the wind picked up, and the rain was still falling.
I ran out of petrol just up from thje Fitzherbet bridge dammit!!
I now know that I will not get a step more than 220km out of a tank.

And I missed the Friday night ride!!

    Bugger, that's annoying.

I take it you had a reserve to help you out?

Nah, no reserve, but It does have a low fuel light.
That came on 40kms before it ran out.
Bit more respect for it now, cos she's a bit of a push over the bridge!

Mmmm...Firestorms do that...look in the tank when its running one day - you'll see the whirlpool...

Look on the bright side, it'll keep you fit and the rain keeps you cool.

I see your bike has the 16 litre tank. As soon as you're able, get the newer model with larger tank and fuel gauge.

Funny enough today I was debating with myself if I should take a trip to Cycleworks in Lower Hutt but wasn't sure how long the weather was going to hold. Plus I was waiting for AFC to ring me about my steering head bearings.

    220km / 16L tank = under 14km/L

No being a smart arse, cos I think that the Firestorm is a great bike but that is the reason I bought the SV1000 its easily gets 19-20Km/ L, moderate to hard riding, I get 12-14km/L on the race track, flat out all the time.It is just something you have to adjust to when riding the Good ol Firestorm.
    Injection vs Carbs I guess.

Hey Mike .. at least you did not miss the friday nite ride aye .. Generally windy from either Shannon or past Opiki turn off through Tokomaru can make for interesting riding .. had that last sunday coming home fr the BBQ but sure fun ..
bugger you had to push the bike over the bridge, but it could have been worse & half way between Linton & Palmy ..

    Enjoy ya beer

Bit bloody wet aright. Left Chch lunch time for Te Anau...via Dunners because I was a little worried about the Lindas.....It stopped raining between Timaru and Oamaru...sun shone in Oamau....10 K past Oamaru the rain started again.

The rain stopped in Palmerston...when the hail started.

The hail stopped when the rain started again.....there was fresh snow on them thar hills...it was cold...I was cold. I was expecting some degree of summer....

Did I make Te Anau?....stuff that, holed up in a hotel in Dunedin for the night....chillin out
