Its difficult to determine someones ability until you get into some good corners and you find yourself having to go round the outside to prevent rear ending them - even at an appropriate following distance...

I estimate that every cager, every other biker, every horse, and every rabbit everything withing 10 metres of the road side are out to kill me, so I stay away from them...

I pay my taxes so I can use all the road on my side of the centre line that I want. Therefore if I see a nicer patch of road to the left or right I am within my rights to use it at any time so just remember, if you want to pass me as I dreamily speed along at 80k (please note before you start complaining of my speeding this is on the open road) you must use the road to the right of the centre line which is anybodies. You have been warned

When I'm cornering I'm concentrating on my lines, not looking in my mirrors to see if some dickwad is deciding to overtake.

I try to ride at the speed limit, certainly not over 110kmh very often & it really rips my nightie when I get blasted on the straights then baulked through a nice set of bends. It's not big & it's not clever, only demonstrating the riders ability with their right wrist. I think overtaking on corners in this thread is a moot point. A genuine, clear road overtake using the other lane with big safety margins, fine. Squeezing past in the same lane? Murderous, shoot em!

There are times when passing in a corner is the only way to get past someone who is playing silly buggers, drag race king on the straights, when all you want to do is briskly tootle along the highway.....

Well don't blame me I didn't make the video....perhaps the title is something Carver can fix when he does the much anticipated remake?

Only trust the riding style of others you know well. If you don't know them, pass 'em on the straights or some other sensible time to do it.

If you are forced into the ditch while you pass on the outside mid corner passing an unknown taking a different line to you... it's your fault.

Though I would give the point of view from a noob that will be the one being over taken, because it seams to be under represented. I would not want someone on the out side of me (or inside) in a corner, no matter how good they are. If I fuck up, hit a pot hole or just make a mistake of some kind I might be the on putting them in a ditch (I can deal with killing my self but when you do it to someone else its a little different). whether it is my fault or not I dont want that. I am quite happy to pull over for someone on straights though, which I know some (nearly everone) dont do. What I really hate is when you are sitting on 105 and some cunt in a SUV passes you at 130 or something, then holds you up in the corners and you cant pass. People just need to accepted that they are not the best in the world at everything and dont have the tool for every job, and be a little more considerate to other people, this dosnt mean slow down and piss everyone off, it means ride/drive to your abilities and if someone is trying to go faster in twisties or straights let them past. If someone passes me on a straight then it dosnt bother me if they then let me past in the corners as well, both of you get where you are going in the fastest way.

I see no difference in overtaking on a straight or a corner. If. 100mtrs of clear road before & after the manoeuvre, using the opposite lane, checking your clear to move before you pull out & when you pull back in. Indicate promptly. No probs. If I'm behind a hero taking scary lines, ignoring the white line, hanging off the bike like a gibbon trying to get their knee down or any other little fuckwit indicators then I will probably stop for a ciggie & not worry about getting past them.
