Anyone in chch willing to give me a small blat on a drz400? No one I know currently has one.

Been looking last couple of weeks , xr600, xr650 way . Had a potter on a xr400 and quite enjoyed it , any dirt bike I buy has to be road legal 'ish...........and heaps of drz's about.

just check the specs of the model you ride - try and get an E model, and if you can find a stock one to compare with one that has an aftermarket header and can so you can feel the difference in power. A hot E model is a lot of fun. Also check the gearing - a high geared bike will feel sluggish and gutless but will cruise at 130 and wind out to 160, a low geared one will be screaming at 120 but will be a tun of fun on the streets.

Unless you have to have electric start I reckon the XR is the way to go. Had a DRZ400E and although on paper it was good the XR600 power delivery is just way better. In saying that now I'd probably do for an XR250 or 400 for dirt pottering. The XR600 is super-cool in gravel though. DRZ would probably feel fine and light for me know after having an XR600 and riding a VFR800 for the last few months - it's all relative I guess so ride them all and decide. Don't be put off by the 'old technology' of the XR's though - they're well designed bikes that just feel they work well - X factor and all that...

Yeah had a couple of xr600's. Got boys to potter round after now as well.......... . Mate had drz motard for a while ,that went quite well, but has since sold it. Quite keen on electric leg.......must be getting old
