My first ever wheelie on my old R6 - mainly because it was unexpected and at first it felt like I was flying.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Probably 2 secs for me. i came over a brow of a hill and bugger me theres a bull standing in the middle of the road. all i had time to do was stand on the pegs, over the top of the bull, the bike hit his front quarters and killed both the bike and bull, heres the road going down hill, i’m still going up, looking down and thought, this might hurt. eventually i hit the ground and must have skidded on my bum for a good 100 metres still screaming down the hill, that probably took more than 10 secs. i don’t want to ever go through that again, i’m thankful i’m still kicking.

Hrm probably when I picked up my 650. I'd never ridden such a thing, and pulling out onto the motorway was a combination of terror, awe, fear, exhilaration.. you name it, it was all there. Fooken brilliant. I found out what a dry mouth was - never had one before. Ever.

Screaming over the top of this pile of metal down at the local quarry on my CB125 only to find that they had cut away the other side and it was about a 25 foot ( fuck off, it was the 70's and we didnt have metric then, oh buggar , yes we did ) to the bottom. Kept it upright , just , and have fathered children since then ( think they are mine ), so the bruising was just superficial

Riding through a part of the Lewis Pass with big trees and vegetation all around. Tree branches seemed to reach over the road. Must have been a combination of quiet bike, wind direction and the roadside vegetation sucking up the noise but for a while there was just no noise. Dead quiet. Yet I was rolling at about 100kph and it felt like I was flying. Quite spiritual. I remember saying "Wow" out loud in my helmet.

Well I have to kinda agree about arthur's pass. we did it once when there was 4 inches of rain in greymouth. the falls and the ride up in the tempest was truly exhilarating.

The best almost 10 seconds on someone else's bike was at the V-max launch. Me, the Ed and a new 200hp Max had the keys to Meremere dragway, all on our own.

no one has mentioned first time knee down yet, no one remembers that? got to be getting the old knee down the first time, feeling so low to the ground, the scraping.

heavy braking on the vfr400 from 180kph in the rain, banging it down the gears having the rear slide about, v4 wailing- what a rush.

    Hmmmmm...
The very first time I rode a bike (Yamaha 90) was pretty kewl - just got on and rode.
First ride on a motocross bike (KX250) was kewl too - but was scary fast.
Riding a race-prepped RD350 (fastest in NZ at the time) had me shaking when I got off.

All that was in the '70s, and nothing since has been as noteworthy.

Best 10 seconds on my bike?
    Dunno.
Probably riding it out of the dealership, as the excitement of each first ride on one of my bikes was a bit special. But it might have been the satisfaction of riding it again after six weeks break.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
