Talkn of new shocks, my rear shock to my 93 vfr400 was standard, got it back from the boys at motomart-lower hutt yesterday after having 20mm added to adjust the ride height. Now with the 17" rim it all looks magic.
Apparently its a big problem the ride height,will have to test it up the back of wellies tonite..........hahaha
Its no ohlins but a rebuilded swowa isn't far off.

Sorry guys, I can't give the cost because it was a trade deal. The shock and fork springs are probably under $2000. Contact Robert for a quote.
I fitted it on Saturday, it turned out to be a piece of wee's. Although at first glance I wondered how the hell the reservoir would fit, it did but without much room to spare.
It took about 30 mins all up.
I thought I'd check the new fork spring set-up for length too, seeing I had some time to spare. Robert had said I'd need to cut the spacers to length. But they were dead right.
Buttoned it all back together and checked the set-up. On minimum preload, all the sag figures were spot on for my (over) weight. Robert sure knows his stuff.
I wasn't able to get out for a ride because of other stuff to do on Sunday so I couldn't set up the damping, but on the factory settings it felt really good. A lot smoother on rough seal and the harshness under power has gone. In fact, the rear felt soft when bouncing it but that feeling goes when moving.
The fork springs have reduced dive hugely. They feel very slightly stiffer but don't get harsh like the originals did.
Can't wait to get it on the open road.

Managed to get in my first real ride since I fitted the new stuff, went up my private race track SH16.
Impressed is not the word, gobsmacked is more to the point.
Mid-corner bumps don't have any effect, you feel them but the bike tracks true, doesn't move an inch off line. Even when a bump kicks the rear off the road (friggin' big bumps too) it lands without a twitch. My brother on his new Bandit was working hard to keep up and was not confortable on the rough stuff.
The front wheel feels like it'll never let go, totally planted. The forks do dive but don't feel like it. Braking deep into corners doesn't make it want to stand up.
The danger is that this new found confidence makes you want to push ever harder till it ends in tears.
Had a quick dice with a sport bike up the hill north of Cowkop, was all over him till the road opened out and his top end power was hard to stay with, but through the tighter stuff it was a doddle.

Gidday Lou, I spoke with your brother a day or two ago re his front springs but he must be a little weasel at 75 Kg ! I'm 100kg , What springs did Robert advise you on ? Pixie seemed to like his 1100 shock, I would be keen to hear a comparison. Cheers G.

Yeah, he's a Japanese racing weasel. I'll find out the rate for the springs and let you know. Mine were selected for 85kg plus pillion.He said the GSX-R shock felt similar to the Ohlins, he's going to get it rebuilt for the new bike.
