wheel bearings? How many Km's you done?
34k (ish). The rears are standard SKF. But the sprocket outrigger is a special (wider). That's grumbling, so I'll need to order that in.

Haha. You might have to wait a bit. Big job.

After Steve had his wheel bearing problem, I thought I'd better check mine. The back ones were on the way out, so a HUGE thanks to Cycle Torque Taumaranui for sorting this early Saturday (top blokes, and they even tried to sell me one of the 2 new Tenere's in the shop), and a big thanks to you guys for sqeezing in another fancy coffee while you waited for me.

Glad I changed the bearings, as the 42nd was rough going at warp speed.

    A couple of highlights.

    1. Mark thinking he's having a SHIT day
    2. Until he see's Steve's dilemma

How many times have they been through a river? I tend to treat wheel bearings as expendable given the wet and dirty environment, the seals aren't made to keep cold water out of a hot housing, that dunking in water creates an instant suction of water through the seal.
I would plan on a set of bearings each year (10,000kms) front & rear.

My DR has only done 9000km since new, so I was surprised to see them shit out that quick. Perhaps the standard Suzuki bearings are fairly average.

Photo's will have to wait (but from what I've seen so far, it will be worth it). Nighty night.

+1 on that. I had a cush drive bearing fail and collapse on my DR650 at 115kmh at Mahonui. BIG SKID !!! The bearing was only about 3months old but I think something had damaged the seal and the day it collapsed I had ridden in sand. Keep an eye on them all the time.

The wheels off I inspect but I have repacked my Cush rubbers twice, inspected and that's about it. They have never looked bad, dry or caked with gunk. I was pleasantly suprised. I put in a nice dollop of grease and re-install. As for the front, well, it still looks good and I have done more miealge that Steve's KTM, but not much more...
    Bit of bad luck...damn!
One thing I really got to do is take out my rear brake light and shake a bit of sand or mud out of it....No idea how that got in, but to remove that I have to take off the whole rear housing end to get at it.
