Had my licence 5 weeks or there abouts, and I wish I could have done that... classic... lol. I did get one wrong tho, I scrubbed so hard the answer disappeared, so they classified it as wrong.. doh!:

In short, they're great! I'd say they're more fun than a GN250 or something 'nasty' like a scorpio / gpx* - oh and my flatmate may be selling...

    I'll ask her tomorrow.

*Sorry GPX / Scorpio riders! It's nothing personal, you just ride shit bikes :P
    What the fuckstick.

You learnt on a Hyosung didn't you?

And then you bought a gixxer, so your eye for quality has hardly improved.

The best learner 250s bar none, are the VTR250 and the GPX250, depending on if they want fairings or not. FXR150's are good learner bikes as well, although some riders may feel limited by them after a while, whilst others aren't worried by the fixxer's power limitations during the course of their learning 18/24 months.

I've been riding the pillion seat a few times lately, enough to get me addicted and keen to ride myself. So I'm looking at getting my learners and purchasing my first bike in time for summer. I live in central/east Auckland, so once I've got some experience I'm keen to join a few group rides.
I'm thinking of getting a Suzuki fxr. If you know of anyone selling, or have other suggestions, please let me know. My budget is around 2-3k.
How did ya find the R1 as opposed to the VRT or the Horneyt Hay?!

Haha the R1 had the best acceleration of the lot, however also took the prize for least comfortable pillion seat. But all in all it was a good ride, thanks

I went for a vtr250 it is a sweet bike I absolute adore it. So good around corners and really quick, awesome for commuting, such a good learners bike. I have been on it about 2 months just did my first big open ride to NP and back was wicked fun!! way more confident now.

I first learnt around the ellerslie racecourse carpark on a sunday arvo.

I love how it's a little community when riding your bike, everyone gives you a little wave or nod whn you pass, except guys on harleys...but i still wave enthusiastically and sometimes get a wave back
Would love to go riding with you when I'm licenced and have a bike which hopefully won't be too far away, I'm eager to get out there
Congrats on the big ride can't wait 'til I'm ready for something like that!
