I saw an article in the local paper about upgrading and two laning the Akatarawa road Sweeeeet... Apparently it has a high rating from Transit NZ and should go ahead in the next couple of years. Cost of $212000 for the Kapiti council (Feck all really) Wgtn Regional council picks up the rest. It's an alternative escape route from Wgtn... also happens to be a lot like Paekak hill but five times as long Just a bit too scary on the bike being one lane and all tight corners.

Be good for me, it'd get rid of that pesky motorway section from the Haywards to the Rimutakas.

Course, you know that local papers are kind of local propaganda and may not reflect the real world... IE the journalist may own a house on the road and want his house value to go up etc...

So, grain of salt and all that... but eventually it'll happen.
