After owning all 2 strokes and trading in an H2 750, riding out of the dealers shop on a new Z1 900. Man, that was the coolest.

The first time I swung my leg over to sit on my lil'ol'hornet ... had to drive all the way out to Whitianga on the Coro to view it (no other hornets around at that time) .

In that first 10 secs ... I had to have it! didn't even haggle ... just said "you got access to internet banking?"

There has been many bikes. And there has been many 10 seconds. Too many to mention here.

    But a small selection:

    - When, at 16, I rolled out my Royal Enfield Meteor Minior Sport 500 Twin from the shop floor.

    - When in Italy on my 750 Bonny the cutest girl on the beach jumped on my bike and told me that she wanted to ride with me.

    - Riding my Panhead chop in the snow and ice in December in Sweden and overtaking at 160k/h a police car that had no chance to catch me!

    - On my Java 897 speedway solo bike outgating 2 riders with later model bikes who made a living out of riding.

    - On my K100 riding on Pourerere beach while lowtide and on rockhard flat sand with nobody else in sight at full stop!

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Wasn't my bike, but jumping on a warmed up tl-s that I had dreamed of buying and twisting the throttle to the stop nearly hitting red line in top..

A little more than 10 sec but christ, what a cacophony, what a rush.

Many years ago I was riding my Tiger on the Summit Road in a small group. There was a long left hand sweeper, no oncoming traffic so I gunned it. What I did not know was the cattle stop just as the sweeper was approached prior to leaning the bike over. I hit the stop with speed and this caused me to bounce of the seat and in doing so reduced the time for the lean into the sweeper. this delay caused me to overshoot the bend. The bike went into a speedway slide with the back wheel on the gravel verge, on the wrong side of the road, and the front on the hard seal. I was lucky enough to come out unscathed. Those behind me who saw this claimed it was one of the best pieces of riding they had ever seen. In actual fact I had no control over this whatsoever. To this day I can still experiance the total fear of exhileration. Never again would I make that mistake but the thrill of that fear is an experiance I still miss to this day.
