Traffic in Dorkland is shit today, took me an hour to get to work today, and will probably take me longer to get home. Every barstards leaving early today to beat the traffic. "Whats the point if everyone else is doing the same thing, I'm leaving at five."

Only started filtering at lights this week due to the fact that the traffic is pure madness and i only go from howick to manukau . That and thae fact that there are drivers out there who are complete idiots. I wonder if the police would take about 10 *555(or whatever it is) calls a week reporting stupid drivers from a biker????

I found these exhurst pipe whistles you can buy at the $2 shop really effective if you can catch up with a fugwit and shove one up his pipe, he'll freak out everytime he revs his engine. easy paybacks & a cheap laugh, when ther've got the hood up wondering what the fugs goin on.

Funnily enough heavy traffic doesn't bother me these days...

If you're not going to filter, why commute on a bike? You could buy a cheap car and have air conditioning and a stereo while you sit in the traffic.

Or you could graduate to the 'Mad Cnut' riding style and piss the car drivers off instead

For some reason I don't find myself getting mad at car drivers these days... I just feel a bit sorry for them. They're not homicidal, just blinkered. Mostly.

People who pull out in front of me/try change lanes on me/ idiot drivers get the usual shaking of the fist shaking of the head and muttering to myself i mean come on my bike is really frikken loud. Hmmmm those exhaust whistles sound fun i remember the good old days of putting condoms on exhausts in parking lots quite silly seeing a car with an inflated condom on the exhaust driving around

Being a sedate older person, I've only kicked one door in. But it belonged to a blind Asian twat who nearly had me off on the Bridge. Shit, it felt bloody good too!

I am glad it wasn't just me. I don't normally ride a lot during the mid afternoon, so I thought it might be normal... But on Friday, trying to make it from Glenfield to Mt Eden at about 2:30 was a nightmare. I was happily cruising down the motorway at a nice 120, until I get to Onewa - from then on, it was 10-25kph all the way over the bridge, and not much better on the other side. Thank god I was getting off at Cook St.

Plus the taxi who swerved in front of me on Pitt St, and then the guy who wanted to turn right from the straight ahead lane on Newton road. It just wasn't a good day. And when I finally did get to my girlfriend's I was sweltering. Damn it was a trying experience.

I am tempted to start riding in shorts, t-shirt and jandals for comfort...

Try wearing a perferated leather jacket. They are great especially when some wind is blowing or with a bit of speed.

I wear a Teknic jacket - it has zip-up vents which are great with a little speed, but do sweet FA when I am sitting still in traffic

But you're on a bike.. why are you only doing 25kph?? If you want comfort at that speed, get an air conditioned car to sit in and join the queue...Or if you're like me and can't stand the thought of being caged away with the rest of aucklands lemmings, start doing some careful lane splitting! I'll admit I have a tendancy to lane split at every available (and some slightly dubious) opportunities on all roads but on the motorway there's heaps of room for a bike.

Maybe I'm the only dufus but I only just realised after about a year that mine has a vent hidden up under a flap at the back between the shoulder blades, I guess to let air out as well as just in.

I must agree - to buy a bike to sit in traffic is just stoopid.....what is the point.....

There is nothing wrong with lane splitting - provided you don't ride like an idiot and/or split in stupid places (like Mt Wellington offramp in Auckland or Ngarauna in Wellington) - where people change lanes without warning.

You could add to that  the underpass of Petone Overbridge - absolutely hideous this morning. I thought I was gonna get run over or into! Add to that the rain and it was not pleasant today.
