    Charity ride to NZ

    Hi Guys,
I'm fairly sure I know the answer to this question but I want to get some backup.

I am a member of an Aussie M/C109 riders group, we have just done our first large charity ride and we are planning on a doing one a year for the next few years. It was suggested that we come across to NZ at some point as there are a fair few kiwis in the 109 group and we all rave about the roads.

The question we have is could we bring the 9's across (50+ bikes) and have a temporary registration for a 2-3 week ride in NZ and then return to Aus?. Or is the only option to rent bikes for that period of time?

    Any help would be awesome.

    Gidday from across the ditch!

You'll probably be better off getting direct info from an Aussie bike shipping company but I can tell you that containering personal bikes over from your east coast ports for a few weeks riding is pretty common as I've bumped into aforesaid groups on a fairly regular basis around NZ. The specialised shippers will know all the details - you'll see them advertising in the back of Two Wheels magazine and similar.

And a plug for the best available book on motorcycling in NZ: http://www.aucklandmapcentre.co.nz/d...cycle_atlas.sm. This is our bible, with lots of great routes described, together with "grin factor" rating etc. You should be able to get it in any good bookshop in Aussie.

    Best of luck!

    .
Temporary import permits & a temp rego for NZ are easy to get. Check out www.getrouted.com.au for shipping costs. You might find that renting is cheaper if only coming for 2 weeks, but if you can do a deal for 50 bikes with a shipper it might make sense.

    Cheers
