Thumbs Up: North Shore City Council

I work in Takapuna, and a while ago the NSCC put in a small motorcycle parking bay not to far from my work. So about 3 months ago I decided to start using it.
I figure the more bikes that use it the more encouraged the council will be to extend and put in more motorcycle parks.

Well several times I have arrived to work in the morning, pulled up to to the parking bay, and bloody council vehicles are parked in it. And its not just they park in the bay - but they fill the entire bay up so there is no way to get even one motorcycle in.

So this time I decided to ring up the council. I wasn't really expecting much to be honest.
Anyway, they put me through to parking enforcement services, asked for the rego (which I gave), and said they would send down a parking enforcement officer right away.

I took all my gear off, and about 10 minutes later went back down, and sure enough all the council vehicles were gone.
And much to my enjoyment, I saw a scooter had already used it.


So North City City Council - a bit thumbs up. I appreciate you taking the issue seriously enough to do something about it - and for putting in the motorcycle parks in the first place.


Has your local council down something for motorcycles that impressed you or gave you the warm fuzzies?

Should of waited and seen if they ticketed themselves....

I must say that I have had only good experiences with NSCC.

Just had two huge trees removed after going through the process.

They didn't have to help, but they did.

I was amazed.

The actual council staff are great, pity the mayors a publicity seeker though.
