I am really pissed off. All the official info that I have seen (including the official info sent through kiwibiker acc mailing list) said: meeting at the parliament on 31st of October, 12.30 to 2pm.
I arrived on Saturday about 12.45, just to find that everything was over and people were pouring out of the parliament grounds, heading to their bikes. Checked my watch twice and then started asking left and right what's happening. I thought we were thrown out, just to discover that at some point the info had changed from 12.30-2pm to 12-1pm, but there hasn't been a re-release of the official info through the channels used for the first batch of information.
I'm pretty sure the new info has been posted somewhere in one forum or another in the ACC section, but I never bothered looking for updates, automatically assuming that if there would be any change, we would be notified via the same channels as the first time.
And it turns out I wasn't the only one. Just after 1pm, when I was getting ready to leave, I've seen at least half a dozen riders coming in, looking very confused and asking questions left and right, like me before.
Who's the $%^@$#$&#$%$%^#@$#$%^!!!! that organised this meeting?![]()
I'm afraid it was a Ulysses-organised meeting. I don't know what 'communication' channels they have been using, but I'm holding my tongue on my opinions of some of Saturday's events in different parts of the country.
Let's just say - could do better!![]()
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!
Well there is the problem.
Hmmm, 7 or so people missed out. Hundreds (perhaps 600-700 people?) made it and where there on time. That seems to indicate that the message got through allright.
Can't have been reading the official information in much detail. It was organised by Ulysses and was well advertised that this was a Ulysses event.
Exert your talents, and distinguish yourself, and don't think of retiring from the world, until the world will be sorry that you retire. -Samuel Johnson
With so many posts related to ACC and ACC-events, unless you stay home all day and browse kiwibiker, you need to sort what you're reading and what not.
As for the 6-7 people that missed it, who's to say it wasn't 100 or more?
I know it was an Ulysses event. My questions was very direct (who not as in which organisation but as in what person).
I guess It would be very non-pc of me to blame this screw-up on the Ulysses members' average agebut that's the nicest of all thoughts I've been having towards the organiser(s) since Saturday.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
Peter Macintosh of the Ulysses club buddy
All details flowed from him, and checking OUR official calendar announcement clearly stated 12-1pm
Sorry you missed but 600 others heard the time correct
So you don't miss the BIG one bro, 11.am at the rally points no later or you miss the rider briefings
They leave 11.30 to get to the Stadium at 12
OK NEWS
This is a huge ride
The logistics are crazy
I NEED 12 more willing volunteers in Wellington like YESTERDAY
I went with officials to do the parking survey.........Stadium is IT on demands from council and cops (and trust me its a win situation for all)
More to follow on this but I NEED !@ PEOPLE and some of them have to be willing to miss the convoy (so maybe City dwellers as opposed to Hutt/Porirua travelers)
HELP!
Just ride.
Well the darndest thing happend to me today. Not more than 400m from my front gate I was dismounted from my R1 by a young lady who had a moment of brain fade causing me to be her breaking aid ( I was already stopped in a line of traffic). As a result I now have a rather used bike, disconnected sub frame, destroyed rear wheel and a sad look that I just can't shake. Crazy part in all this is just how keen I am to do the protest ride. I some how dismounted the bike without a single scratch on me - no ACC data contribution. I found it madly ironic how I could have been a contributing factor in the 600 - 1000cc risk evaluation.
Thing that annoyed me about that was how that statistic would be added due to the failing actions of a driver, not 1000cc engine size and rider error.
Keep up the good work StoneY I will ensure I have a new bike before the protest, looking forward to it.
