Ohhhh...I get it now, they must be from outer space. Honestly, what other explanation could there be for this kind of behaviour?

Threaten them with small claims court! Or better still, take them to the small claims court!

If you live in a foreign country, you live by THEIR rules!

Seems to me, they should do the same here!

man. where do those people get off? "Land of the Fluffy White Pillows Paid for by Everyone Else?"

I really feel for all you guys getting bikes knocked over (and Syncophant..been there too).

I was quite glad when my ZXR got knocked over by a digger because all the insurance work upped the bikes value but it was made so much easier by the digger driver being friendly, apologetic and so helpful. A bit of courtesy goes a long way.

fuck that, btw i reckon if they cant speak proper english throw em back after a 2week MAX tour of NZ, of which only includes a free ride on a toppling bike for the older wankers, the kid didnt deserve it, shuda been the mother.  Feck that would piss me off if it happend to my bike, all that stuff, im going to be much more careful where i park now, simpley to help prevent some parents/drivers from having the broken mirror thrown @ them.  And they say i only care about myself...sheesh..

Boy this thread sure sparked a hornet's nest of replies.

Sycophant's situation is worse as it could cause him loss of confidence, and reduce his enjoyment. Don't let it get you down happens to all of us sooner or later mate. My case was upsetting but thats what insurance is for, and it was definitely her fault. The cops said even if i were illegally parked it wouldn't matter. I would get a ticket from the council but nothing else. It won't cost me so it's over.

I'm not going to let it ruin things, most of the scratches have buffed out, can barely see them now. The brake lever is a lot nicer than a honda's, no offence, but not ten times nicer.

That's the price of italian bikes. Fair enough. It is the wait that is the real pain. I need them to order a new mirror, and gear change lever (bent), I'm not going to repaint looks fine so I'll wait for worse, touch wood.

Thanks all for the support, oh was that negative bit really posted? Some people are really sad.

Of course there is the "revenge" option - take an Oldies footy team (average player weight 125Kg) around and get them standing on the mongrel's car for a photo shoot...

I like the idea of the car photo, I wish I had thought of that.

Nah, what was conserning me the most was they seemed more interested about yet another pointless photograph than there sons saftey. I had been riding it all day and the pipes where red hot, you dont have to get to close to it to feel the heat, plus the child was only little and the bike sits on a lean so he would have had a hard time ballancing himself to pose for a stupid photo Im not surprised he fell backwards. As far as the $600.00 goes, this happened 3 yrs ago and they will never see a cent from me. I didnt see any money either but I did take it as a learning curve, not to leave my bike sitting to far away for too long. If I can park it on the foot path I will and I'm straight in and staight out, if theres a que I'll go elsewhere.

Now I've got minor scuffs on the left side panel, mirror, bar-end and a shorter clutch lever. I heard from a witness that the bike feel on his leg and he couldn't get out from under it He had to ask someone passing by to help him lift the bike up.

The first I knew was when I jumped on my little finger slipped off the end of the clutch lever (NZ$230!!!).

    Bugger!!
Hey that short clutch lver didn't seem to slow you down at all on Sunday.

Hi Sycophant - sorry to hear of your off, glad you're okay, and I must look into one of them phones!

Outside my work there is a bike park. On one end the footpath curves out towards the road, so that's fine, but the other end is a loading zone. In the last couple of years there's been three times that I'm aware of when bikes have been knocked over.

First time was early in the mng, I was on my way into the building. Saw a white Commodore parked in the loading zone, and a Katana parked in the bike park. Five minutes later one of my workmates comes to see me and says he's just seen a white Commodore knock over a white bike. The “lady” driver heard the noise, got out, had a look, pretended to leave a note, and drove off. As it happens, I knew the rego of the car because I knew a previous owner. Didn’t know the Katana owner. Left a note on the bike for the owner to contact me, which she duly did She went around to see the “lady” who said “oh sorry, didn’t see the bike there, I didn't know I knocked it over”, and denied that she’d got out of the car to have a look. I would have decked the bitch.

Second time the guy from the drycleaners just along from the bike park backs his van into the bikes, two go down (SV650 and 750SS). Luckily there’s a gap that day between those two and the rest so there’s no more domino effect. Once again, one of the girls from work happened to be outside and saw it all, rushed up and told me. I left a note on both bikes to contact me, and the drycleaner guy ended up paying for the (pretty expensive) damage. (He’s 90 in the shade and can hardly see - you take your drycleaning in there and he has to hold the docket six inches away from his eyes to be able to read it - I don’t get my drycleaning done there any more).

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. The 750SS has replaced his front brake lever, mirror, right-hand indicator and fairing panels and it’s all looking shiny and new. It’s late (around 7.30pm I think), not much traffic around, no other bikes in the bike park. Poor sod comes to go home and guess what - the SS has been knocked over again. It’s now without it’s lowers while they’re getting fixed…again. Let alone the other damage to levers etc. No note left by the car driver. Bastard. What goes around comes around (I hope!!)

I’m going to write to the Council and ask if they can put up one of those bar thingys you sometimes see, inbetween the end of the bike park and the loading zone.

And I couldn't believe what happened to Matt's MV - if I'd come along and seen the kid stuck under the bike I would have left him there and called the cops (mind you, they probably wouldn't have wanted to know.....)
