Just a thought cammo, what *for you* is the value of chicken strips?

It's a retorical question in this case, but imho for most people it's a pride thing that they're reaching the limits of their bike.

Chicken strips are just one way to judge this. I've heard that for bmw owners it's their cylinder head covers.

If you're dissapointed that you know that the tire can go further than your bike, then you need to think about ground clearance. Could try jacking up the preload (within reason) on the rear shock to raise the back, or possibly aftermarket pegs with beveled ends..
We're all fucked. I'm fucked. You're fucked. The whole department is fucked. It's the biggest cock-up ever. We're all completely fucked.

i never even knew about those "hero blob" things until the track day when i saw JSGs pegs had then, i soon relised i didnt.

as for my side stand, naa never got that, but i removed my center stand cos i never used it and it had been scraping.

i need to adjust my rear suspension, its at the softest setting so hopfully ill be able to do that soon.

as for my chicken strips, im not too concerned. i figure if ive got my peg down and their still there then its not that bad. but i really need to tighten up my susp.
    .....what can i say.....

If you look under your pegs you may realise that they have been taken off...

And with no side stand how do you lube your chain?? Use a block of wood or something??

with great diffuculty(sp?) but i found a great way to get aorund it, either i lube the chain then push the bike forward or i just put two car jacks under the swing arm, works a treat!!

i should really lube my chain tomorrow whilst on the subject...

I usually put it into first gear on the main stand, then clean it with a toothbrush and kerosene, put it into second give it a few revs and slow it down to a stop. Let it dry for about a couple of minutes then switch it back into first and spray it. Makes the chain look good as new

Cammo- get onto that rear shock ASAP, the difference is phenominal! better aceleration/launch, makes for better wheelies oh and cornering.....

as for the chain, I too have no center stand, I utilise my pillion and get her to hold the rear wheel off the ground (tilting it onto the sidestand and front wheel so it balances..)
I use a wax that I try to apply every 500 or so kms..... will have to have a go cleaning with a toothbrush one day...... TSS tidy it up for me nicely so I havn't really needed to yet though

i might just have to try the "ol hammer and screw driver trick" as frosty said the other day, oh and a bit of force!!

    it might make wheelies easier...

    will see what happens,

    cheers all

    My thoughts:
'mint RGV's or NSR' don't exist. They're all second hand and have been ridden by people wanting a go-fast 250 and will have been abused. End of story. if you want one, be prepared to spend some money on it at regular intervals. Mint RS250 Aprilias do exist because some people buy them for pose value.. but they also cost mucho moolah.

sporty 4 cylinder 250's are great. keeping up with bigger bikes is quite possible once you learn how to get the most out of the revvy engine and the ability to corner quick... and its very satisfying. I can tell you now that if you upsize at regular intervals without pushing the bike before you move on, you WILL get passed by a rider on a smaller bike. if you're cool with that, then there's no reason not to get a bigger one (assuming you have your full/insurance yadda yadda) but if you fancy keeping up with the jones' and NOT getting passed by Mr Smith on a zzr250, riding whatever 250 have to its max abilities is the way to go.

Yup that was the idea all along. The only reason I started this advice rant was that this bike I was looking at (which seems to have been sold already) was exactly what I was looking for. BUt hey in 9 months, things will be much better.

So no worries....... I will be giving the faithful ZZR some more love........
