no, there's no question about it - insuring someone outside of their lisence restrictions just will not happen. Hate to be a party pooper..

JSG, you were saying something about working on corners etc. For God sake, do that! Before you look for more power, get confident with corners, stopping, judgement etc etc etc etc.. else you'll just be a statistic, and no one wants that. If you're eager for a bit more, get another 250. Try an RGV250, they're stupidly torquey for a 250, that'll keep you on your toes while you wait. Dare I say, they'll run a 400 for it's money, easy. So just watch yourself

Their are possible ways around it, i.e insuring it under a fully licenced biker and putting down JSG as a rider. It works - but if the insurance company decides to get cheeky they just may do so, and the person its insured under gets the shit claims...

Its an idea that works sometimes but I dont recommend it remeber nothing is ever impossible in a world where such countries as america are ruled by complete nutless fucktarded faggots that lick their own ball sacks so hard.

BTW BJ (lol) hows that induction howl on your bike?

If so I'll start looking ASAP

It's just that I've heard nothing but bad news about the things......

What do you feel?? Would you buy one if you were me??
    Why?? or Why not??

By the way I would also want to go on as many track outings as I could.
The risks are there just like with any other second hand bike. They may sound like high maintainance and that could be true if you end up with a lemon but most 2 strokes are fine eh. Specially when you have to work on em, at least it's less complicated than a 4 stroke.

If you look after your bike by feeding her with top quality 2 stroke oil and keep an eye out for the running temp and do change the rings and pistions (if need be) every 10,000 ks, then you'll be sweet!

I'd even go as far to say that buying a second hand 2 stroke is a safer bet than it's 4 stroke counter part.

k, don't know about that last bit there (some old grudges coming up?), but for the first bit, nope. If you insure under someone else's name, details etc, the fact remains that your lisence is restricting you from riding that bike. As soon as you start the bike, the insurance is nill and void. No insurer in the world will bend the rules like that! Read the tiny print. They wouldn't even agree to put that insurance cover together, let alone try and claim off it. sorry..

I should be fine with it. Provided it doesn't cost too much..... anyway, to me this is all a learning experience. And you can never learn too much.

Oh ok - I dont know a hell of alot all I know is that my (step)brother got away with doing it this way, was insured under his father and he was a registered rider and he was riding it outside the conditions of the licence and he got away with it (full payout!). Although that may have just being a loophole that was found at that time was a couple of years ago.

Yes it must have been a loop hole. There is no easy way I could insure the bike. It's a bloody nuisance with the National Auto Club with my ZZR as it is.

There's a reason insurance companies have the biggest buildings in every city. They always take your money but very rarely pay any out.

well that's bloody lucky.. If you spin the tables, and you were the the dude handing out insurance against conditions, you think it'd last long..? No point enforcing conditions if no one cares about them. Like you say, was a couple of years ago, so may be things have changed since..

Naah I think with accomodation costs, etc we are pretty even.

Nothing owed as far as I'm concerned.

Thing is I work 9-5ish. Could probably leave earlier or something. Lets see how Thursday goes..........

I loved my rgv250 to bits (heh pun not intended but rather apt...)
Though I did make one modification (post-big-badda-boom) to ensure future good behaviour from my less-trusty steed. (oil pump failure resulting in a long walk home)

[1] Take 7-8 bottles of beer
    [2] Take 1 baseball bat.
    [3] Drink beer
[4] Take required screwdrivers, spanners & sockets to remove oil pump.
    [5] Drink beer
[6] Gently toss said oil pump in the air.
[7] Swing baseball bat through the air making the necessary calculations & speed/trajectory adjustments to result in an intersection of the bat's arc with the pump's path.
    [8] Drink beer
[9] Pick up pump off the ground
[10] Repeat 5-8 until resounding CRACK! is heard.
[11] Laugh drunkenly and foolishly as the pump dwindles to a speck and sails happily though a neighbour's glasshouse.
[12] Hide from angry neighbour who turns out to be a big pissed off croatian.
[13] Always mix your oil and petrol by hand from then on.
