What do we think of this CB750 for value?

On TARDME presently: a CB750. Looks good, comes with the thick end of $3k worth of spare mufflers, it looks to be all correct and present for the model.

I think its too dear: I think one in similar condition could be had (particularly at present with our dollar at 75cUS, and their economy in the dunny) for less money. Ive talked to one of the guys here (Mr Toycollector10) who did just that and for less money.

The best thing about this one is that I own the Minichamps model CB750's in 1:12 and 1:6 scale and this is the same colour...

decisions decisions. If it was me I would buy the 750. in an ideal world I would have both in a heartbeat (and a VFR1000R). In this world I will probably have to stick with the Minichamps.

The 750 is a nice bike and but sadly, for the owner, it isn’t a 69 "sand-cast" CB so is realistically probably worth half of what the owner wants for it.

at the end of the day its what you want, while people say the 1100's worth the money they only went to very very few markets and outside of these they're worth nout.

And there is the truth of the matter. I loves my old dinosaur I does, and it is the one I want, but the earlier models and the Katana are more sought after and bring higher prices
As an investment a bike seems like a good way to lose money as, allowing for inflation or compared to what a wise investment would return, anything but an extremely rare and desirable bike will cost you in the long term.
Almost all of us keep old bikes for love, not money.

Some people have a knack of buying the right bike at the right time and making money in the longish term. I don't profess to have that knack though-

I could have had a mint original 1100 Katana 8 years ago for $1300 and put it in the shed till now and it would be worth 9 or 10K which is better than compounting interest on the $1300. Of course I didn't buy it

Or then there was the ex-USA 17,000 mile 850 Commando I was offered for $3,200 5 years ago

I have the anti-knack TM . I am the idiot who, at various times in the past, turned down a tidy RE5 for $500, a GT750 for the same and once took a complete running GT550 to the tip because I couldn't be bothered.

Thats my 1100 on trade me I love it to bits but I have a vf1000r as well and out of the two of them I'm not so scared to ride the vf,The cb1100r is a great bike but i'm always getting asked stupid questions when I'm out and about and if it falls over there go the original pipes,As to wether it's worth $19,000 I think so there are'nt more than 10 in the country but it looks like she going over seas I don't want it to but thats where the interest is,It has been a pleasure to own now time for another home.
