    Do you love your bike?

Do you love your bike? For some reason I get attached to my bikes. I can't stand for them to get dirty, I hate to think about them being out in the rain, etc...

I think the strongest indicator is how would you feel about listing your bike for sale? Somehow it seems as unthinkable to me right now as listing a member of the family. I have sold a bike and that was a surprisingly traumatic experience. The buyers were nice folks, but it felt like I had just sold a good friend.

I have never been as attached to any material thing as I am to my bike. Am I nuts, or is this normal for bikers?

yep I get that too. I'm especially attached to my bucket racer, probably because I spend so much time pissing about doing things to it and I adored my old one too. Maybe they're like kids, the more quality time you spend with them the more attached you get (or is that, the more money you spend on them.... ?)

    To quote a movie

"This ain't no dead piece of metal. A car's a living, breathing thing, and she's alive. Feel it talking to you. Telling you what she wants, what she needs. All you gotta do is listen. Close your eyes and listen."

ok ok I know its says car there, my point is I haven't driven or riden anything that feels the same as the next each has its own soul.
Yes I love my bike and car

Yeah. I crashed mine and it landed maybe 20 meters from me, and I ran (ok, hopped) towards it picking up tank, seat, plastic, on the way choking back tears. It was awful. Never again.

Me on bike is "we", not "I".

I think I had a tear in my eye when I saw my bucket-racer I had built up go down the road on someone else's ute after just being sold....

As for riding a Guzzi,...you experience the lady, you don't ride her....

Do I love my bike? Yeah, oh hell yeah. It's taken a while, but I got her back on her feet after being bashed by previous owners. Kinda developed a bond with the bike after all this now and I cringe at the thought of dropping it!

Love is a strong word. Every time I ride the SV I find something else I like about her. But I suppose when the time comes to move on , maybe I will find out how hard it is to let go.

    Love?
    No.
I do feel a strong attachment to it (partly because I've spent so much time and money on it), and when I see it parked in the carpark at work, or in the garage, I want to go for a ride, or polish it.
Sometimes when it's not running 100%, or I look at the battle damage from communtering, I feel pissed off. OTOH, when I consider maybe test-riding something else, I can't be bothered. What's the point?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
