    Video summary of NZ trip

Since getting back from my March trip to New Zealand I put together a few videos on YouTube of some of my favorite roads.

The ride over to Akaroa was great fun.

The road going into Milford Sound was unforgettable but the video was poor.

On the way back up the east coast towards Kaikoura we jumped off of the main road and took the loop that runs through Gore Bay.

After two weeks on the south island we went to visit with the 'cousies to the north' as the gas attendent at Picton put it. We came across some fun while taking the back route up to Napier.

We finished the trip in Russell and then made a quick ride back down to Auckland before flying back to the Great White North (Canada).
It was a fun filled month and I can't thank GoTourNZ enough for making all the arrangements.

I am really hoping to make it back in 2011 and catch some World Cup Rugby and do some off-road adventures.

Thanks for sharing the great roads.

Yep, nice vids and roads. And on a KTM 990. . Dunno about the sketchy banjo music tho.

The Gore one is actually Gore Bay, near Cheviot, not Gorrrrrrre in the South.

    Bango Music?

You are correct about Gore Bay. The road reminded me of the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Cape Breton Island is the home of some of Canada's best Acadian folk musicians (fiddle but no banjo) and some good local pubs. Glendora Distillery is on the south end of the Cabot Trail and has tasting tours of their single malt operation along with an on-site store and a nice restaurant & pub. There is also a bed & breakfast on site when the tasting gets out of hand.
You need video from Tennesse for banjo music

We clocked about 7000km on the 990 KTM Adventure during our tour of New Zealand. I was somewhat concerned about comfort after hearing all the horror stories about KTM seats from my buddies that ride KTM enduro bikes back here at home. The big KTM however was not a problem. I have a O8 WR450F for the dirt and a 06 FJR1300AE for my sport touring rides but I need to add an adventure bike to the stable. That is why I rented the 990 KTM to give it a try and will be renting a 650 GS BMW when I go to Iceland next summer (my summer).

There was me looking for some familiarity thinking there were twisties near Gore. It's all flat up that way.

Here are some roads you missed:

you have to come all the way South for these ones.
In space, no one can smell your fart.

The helmet camera is the VIO Sport VIO 1.0 digital recorder. Everything is nice and compact. There is just the one cable between the recorder and the camera head and the remote control is wireless. Resolution is 720 x 480 at the highest quality setting. It is a nice clean setup if you don't need HD.
