Now that's interesting. I came across a guy over Christmas that had one. He rode a Hyabusa. Swore by it. But are they legal? There was a thread not so long ago on this and some here were saying that jammers are illegal. So whats the buzz on this?Originally Posted by Sensei 509

Free Scott Watson.
I had to pay for it (sob) but it was still bugger all compared to a new one. I should point out that I use it in the car only, not on the bike. I figure careful use of eyeballs followed by either severe use of right fingers or right wrist (depending on circumstances) will usually eliminate most tickets on the bike.Originally Posted by Rainbow Wizard

It came minus instructions (unfortunately the thieving 17yo scumbag took only the unit plus power cord). I think X is already turned off. Can I turn off K, or does it need to see a dealer?Originally Posted by Lou Girardin

Nothing wrong with it - except the claims Rocky Mountain make are bullshit.

As I understand it anything that receives is legal, but anything that transmits is illegal. Difficulty is that the receivers don't jam, so in order to successfully jam you must have a device that transmits. Therefore yes, a useful jammer must be illegal.Originally Posted by Skyryder
That's not to say that products haven't changed in the last few years, was at least 2000/2001 when I last looking into this type of thing.

Most superhetrodyne detectors transmit a signal (leakage), it's the strength of that signal that defines their legality. Which is why Rocky mountain jammers are crap. There is no such thing as a passive speed radar jammer.
It's as far fetched as Pixie's cop saying that the signal is held in the Hawk antenna.
