    Help the ACC

Come on guy's ACC is obviously in trouble and they need to raise some more dosh,so instead of fighting them lets help them in their cause by finding other things to apply the levy to....
I reckon for a start off all these lycra clad weekend road warriors that clog up the roads at the weekend who get themselves seriously maimed with regularity, should have to rego their bikes and quite personaly having been knocked off by one of the stupid pricks hurtling out of a side road on to a main road with out looking I would welcome the opportunity for revenge.
I can also recomend where I would like to shove the rego plate.

Off road cycles would be exempt (because I like mountain biking)

Any body else got any ideas to take the heat away from us.....and put a bit more money in the kitty,ah theres an idea !!!!!rego for cats anyone.....
My carbon footprint stretches to the horizon....but I'm not a bad person....

Yep, 49,000 rugby players who claimed on ACC last year..... licence the lot of them, then the gubbermint can actually reduce our levies.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

You could be on the right track here.

$750 to rgo a motorbike will mean that most (according to our polls) will just not pay. This will mean a reduction in income.

BUT if we propose a Lycra tax (attractive women excluded) then they will be getting some real extra cash.

But they don't they are not broke... not loosing money and its BS... ACC banked $1b and has over $11b in the bank... It recieves more than enough from its levy's to pay all claims

The only reason for these rises is they want it to be fully funded by 2014... I personally don't care if it takes another 20 years to do so...

There is no rising costs claims have been steady a 1.7b for the last year... the system is working. Its just going to take longer to get the fully funded way of operating from the pay as you go as it use to be... we are about half way through this transission.

    However
There have been many ideas running about to ease the pain of the transistion. These are all very easy to impliement

    • We could put flat fee ACC levy on all vehicles bought.
    • Flat fee on WOF's ( say $5 or $10) ie 2,919,151 vehicles (again not not counting trucks etc and assuming that all these are once a year, but there will be a good percentage that are every 6 months.) 2,919,151 x $5 = $14,595,755
    • All traffic infringements have an ACC levy on them (except car parking)
    • Small 1% levy on riding gear ie; helment, boots, gloves, jackets and trousers. Remember gloves and boots are replaced regularly.

    Sports
    • Same as bike gear, small 1% levy on sports gear that helps with sports injuiries.
    • We could put flat fee ACC levy on all cycles bought.

The harder idea's to impliement are
    • There are idea's of putting levies on the driver or the license not the vehicle.

I say raise the levy for bikes over 600cc to $2500....per month.

[edit] sorry I thought this was the "I'm alright Jack - let's offload onto some other segment of the population in the hope the gubberment butt fuck them instead of us (although if they get the idea they'll just butt fuck everyone they can!)"

    Levys on all sports

Every sporting body should have a small levy imposed on their members annual subscription, rugby, soccer etc etc, even if it were only an extra $5 per person per year. Clubs file annual income tax returns so It would be easy enough to calculate the ACC Portion required. Plus all major public events where tickets are sold, concerts, rugby games etc a portion of the ticket money should have an ACC component after all a lot of people need medical assistance at these events and often go off to hospital where of course the costs of treatment are an ACC expense. It would be simple enough to enforce.

They also need to spend some money on resources get some people out in the community and get rid of the bludgers on the ACC system that are simply that bludgers, personally I know at least three people on ACC that are ripping the system. Then there are the geinuine people with real needs and injury's that are having their ACC cut. The whole thing needs a total shake up.

i think putting a tax on speeding tickets is the best way that way if you don't want to pay the acc tax don't speed.

Had an interesting chat with the Boss today. He is a cyclist and doesnt get why we are so up in arms. Told him we are subsidisy his rides on the weekends.

His response: Well you guys wear all this protective gear and if the cyclists get hit they have less chance of survival. So thats less strain on ACC as you lot.

    Intersting argument I thought

    The Media

What pisses Me off is the media showing dirt bikes and quads on tele both of which dont pay rego.
Life shouldnt end at the grave well presented but rather, slide in sideways totally worn out yelling "shit that was a great ride!"

    The Counterweight Continent is calling.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
