Dirt bike movers - any good?
Hey guys. Have a look at this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=248264874
Has anybody bought or used one of these? I want to buy one and want to know how good it is? .I'm especially worried about it tilting left or right in the corners (it has only one point of support)
Or does anybody know of any similar setup to carry a dirt bike without trailer ( I own a large saloon car).

ive never used one or know anyone that has used one, but my concerns are the same as yours. i reckon though if you got a local engineer to weld a bit of box section steel onto both sides of your tow bar and have a bit of a runner for a bike to sit on it would be ideal - essentially similar setup, but instread of relying on the tongue, you would use the tongue, and 2 other points on the sides as well.

I think you have to get a tow bar rated for the weight. Don't think any old tow bar will do.

A mate has used one of these for years on his Hiace van (which is always full of his work gear). That one one TurdMe is either the same or V similar. His bike is a big/heavy old school 500cc 4 stroke but (if same) they are sturdier than they look. Super easy to use, and he always has his bike on/off quicker than me with my bike trailer.
As Reckless noted, just need to be careful about what vehicle/towbar mounting. I had a Subaru wagon and was advised there was enough strength in rear of car for towbar but not enough for one of these.

if it helps...i have seen Brandon Tipenee using 1 at fells farm b4. (had his 125 on it). it seemed to be fine over the bumpy driveway and through the windy roads.

Sister in law has one from this guy. She only carries a CR80, not sure how they go with bigger bikes.
Its great, she put to tie downs across it - there is a certain way to do it - & it doesn't move or tilt at all.
The 'arms' are removable so you jst take them off & have the other part on your towball - it does up underneath so towball is still free.
Towbar needs to be able to take the correct weight downwards as Reckless has pointed out.

That's him. Rides an HL500 Yamaha. Basically a TT500 based works replica from late 70's. he built it himself - a really beautiful machine.

Ha. was parked next to him (on the concrete pad. I Caught a ride down with the KLX guy, w red Toyota). Was that you he was talking to at the end? We were going to shoot out for another loop but he was having some engine trouble.

I've got a similar set up for an 80cc, but it's just a length of channel steel. I take off my tow ball and bolt it on, I'm thinking of making a larger one for my 200. Any engineering shop would weld it up for a crate of beers if you took along the steel
