Replaced the oil and put 0.54kg/mm springs from Slavens Racing. Found that the rebound needle was stuck in one fork so freed that up. Been round the block so far and WOW what a difference. Looking forward to going for a decent ride.
Don't be afraid to change the fork oil yourself. Also pretty damn easy to check the rest of the fork internals and the forks are installed in the tripple clamps properly while you are at it. Only need two "special" tools being a slighter thinner than normal 22mm spanner and a pin wrench to take the fork cap off. I welded up a pin wrench but Sulco sell one for $25. Double check that pin diameter is 4mm but I'm pretty sure it is.

I pulled my shock tonight, going to get another 10psi of nitrogen sucked out of it. While there I had a look at clearance between the rear wheel and subframe to see how much underseat storage could be fitted in there. By my calculations if I bottomed my shock (04 Adventure, same height as later S's) then the fully compressed shock length would be 30cm, eyelet centre to eyelet centre.
I have a 1/3 worn E-07 fitted and on my bike it sits about 5mm below the frame rails at full compression, so with a new tyre anything lower than the bottom edge of the subframe rails would be at risk of contacting the tyre.
It's lucky I'm such a blouse rider that thats never likely to happen.

Its time to shell out some more cash on the big orange brut. Done plenty of investigation, but keen to here what chain set up my fellow KTM riders have gone for when replacing original set up. Not to worried about sprocket teeth etc etc but type of chain you have gone for,Why? and how they have done!
Cheers Dion
LC8's will eat cheap chains and sprockets so stick with the good brand X-Ring chains and quality sprockets, I put a DID on mine but you won't get anything cheap thats for sure, JT Sprockets and DID chain cost a shit load but you know they will last.
I only ever used spray lube and a mate had an oiler, both seemed to get similar kms out of them so as long as you look after them they should last longer than most of us keep a bike before upgrading.
In the words of Juan-Manuel Fangio "Brakes they only slow you down"
if i remember my last set of chain ans sprockets was around the $500 mark...
have to find the docket.....now where is it...

Time has come, I've been wipped, so I'm selling my 950 S. Baby has taken over life so no pillion anymore and not going to get away from home a for weekend long trips for a good while so selling the 950 for a 450EXC.
Will put the TM ad up this weekend but if you know anybody who is interested in the fastest 950 of them all, a blue one, get in touch. Will be the cheapest 950 on the market at the moment.
