    Watch for the REAL agenda

Not being paranoid just remembering history. Folks watch out for the legislation the gubbiment is really trying to get passed whilst us bikers are focussed on a pretty odvious attention getter.
Either that or they always have expected this reaction and really want to just say doub;le the ACC levvy.
Bikers think they have won and gubbiment gets exactly what it planned all along.

What legislation? Whaddaya know? Whaddaya heard?
Will it be about flags at race meets?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Smoke Screen or Red Herring

Like this bit of Big Brother legislation that is going almost unnoticed??

    Search and Surveillance Bill

There's a lot of civil liberties that will go west if this goes through in its entirety (e.g. legalised cyber snooping)

It's a smokescreen , if they frighten us with a threefold increase we won't get so upset when they only double it . Add it to pump prices instead .

hmmmm indeed - I too thought this ugly kite they are flying now will just allow us to feel 'better' about whatever other slightly less shit scheme they decide on. But then maybe I am just feeling a bit glass is half empty at the mo

Are they going to sell ACC? We might get what we wished for. Private insurance instead of ACC.......

I didn't like the nanny state we had under Helen but things are starting to feel a bit big brotherish now.

Wow, the nz version of the patriot act anyone.

A little more than a "few" liberties will go down the shitter with that legislation.

I guess we are a few steps closer to the totalitarian society feared and predicted by many.

Its like negotiating to buy a car off a shonky dealer.
Create a smokescreen about all the shit thats wrong then make a stupid offer. He's gonna get all snarky and wound up --then ya offer him something semi realistic and he thinks hes doing well
    same principle
Except meanwhile you actually wanna steal his personal Aprillia bike from his back yard whilst he's worried about the car deal

Won't "affect" me in any way at all....

Nothing overly new there... most, if not all, powers of search, entering property, stopping vehicles, seizure etc without warrant, already exist.

This scares me more than any ACC Levy hike!

I resent being treated like a criminal in petrol stations.

I detest having to wait for a right turn red arrow simply because some few other road users are too damnd dumb to know when not to go!

Being able to be stopped by Police for NO Reason and if I have a drivers licence being able to be fined for not carrying it on me, even if I'm walking down the street, concerns me greatly.

We have lost so many ordinary rights/privilages already.

There is no requirement for this type of major law change.

If our Police and other enforcement agencies simply did their damn job properly this sort of draconian legislation would not be being talked about.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
