    Post Filing for an appeal

I got a request asking if i could put a new thread up as to how i had filed for an appeal in regards to police tickets. so here goes.

My story: i was riding on the northern motorway at about 86Kph in a 100km zone and had my L plate on. A copper with nothing better to do pulled me over and issued me a whopping $400 ticket for breaching license conditions. Bunch of crock sh*t if u ask me. Anyways, after i got the ticket i had a rant on KB, as is by KB tradition, and came across a biker cop who told me to write an appeal. The payment that you would send in to their wellington address is the same address you write an appeal to. So i came up with some good points (my safety first, i wasn't speeding, not doing anything stupid, have my restricted now, and in 5 years of using the road i havn't had any fines). Biker cop was helpful and read through my appeal, suggesting that i should indicate 'lesson learned' and suggesting to other L plate riders to avoid the motorways (cheers P.). 2 weeks later i got a post from them saying they would wave the fine due to circumstances.

    Suggestions:
-go talk to a cop about what you got done for and ask for suggestions (if u'r not blatantly in the wrong)
-come up with a few good points supporting why your fine should be waved on this occasion (such as no history of fines etc)
-apologise for being in the wrong (despite the fact that u know that particular law is stupid, like i apologised despite the 70k law is stupid)
-be formal, sound mature and responsible, and under no circumstances start insulting the law or any officers, it won't do you any favors.

Anyways, hope that helps. And good luck with future appeals.

That's impressive that you got off. You did well based on what was said.

Just don't get caught again for the same offence ...

Well it's a load of shit that you got pulled up in the first place. But good to hear you got it waived. The only time I could think that a cop could give out a fine for that is if you were doing something else like taking a pillion, riding after 10, speeding etc.

Everyone knows that this ticket is bullshit.

The main thing I object to, is going into the police station like a little boy and having to suck his cock so I don't have to pay money to them. That is prostitution. Why do they think people will not feel angry about that?

It is a crap ticket. You don't need to go into the station at all, you drama queen. It's writing a letter. Big deal.

alright officer, but its not fair to call "big deal" sarcastically, when it IS a big deal for ordinary citizens to get nicked by the fuzz for this sort of crap. Really, we want police to be a bit more sensible and sensitive at times like this. Yeah yeah I know cops go through a lot of crap and its easy to be cynical, but we expect more from you ok. Save it for when you see some L-Plater doing something stupid that you can't quite book him for, and teach him a lesson before he teaches himself one.

    Nuff sed.

Wasn't sarcastic....much.... just that it isn't really that big a thing. Was more of a dig at your rant, but yeah, ordinary folk do get a little fright at times.

Spoken to plenty of L platers. Had to speak to some of them again for the same sort of thing, on some occasions...... Some lessons just will not be learned, by some.
