    Exclamation Hi-Vis vest designs

Here is my contribution to all of this

Already have had a couple of information requests about where and when for this from a couple of bikers so a couple more people are coming to the ride.

Would anyone protest to me adding www.kiwibiker.co.nz to the bottom of the jacket?

Great idea, I'm off to find a pen..
I'm sure no one would have a problem with kiwibiker web sire being on there. Spankme is the owner of the url.. bring it to his attention if you are concerned.

I am distributing fluoro yellow vests and marker pens at bike gatherings and suggesting people draw their own slogans on the back of the vest. Yours may give them some ideas.

Either that or I might photoshop John Key's face over yours and send the pic to the media.

Missed the print-run - but didn't wanna miss out - hope you guys don't mind me using your images (I didn't think you would since it's a no-profit thing). Spend some time with my printer and a hot iron and made up a cheapo flouro vest to go over my jacket... (included a plug for the bikers against acc site on it too for anyone who didn't know what it was all about)..

Anyways let me know if it's a problem!

    I have the same questions!

The instructions on my iron-on transfer sheets say the iron must be very hot and the fabric must be cotton or similar to handle the heat. What brand of transfer are you using? It looks very effective!

Not that I'm an expert but I'm pretty sure if you don't actually touch the nylon with the iron it would be fine. You want evenly spread heat, not concentrated. Possible try brown paper over the back of the transfer when doing it.

I'm only guessing though so will be interested in how Phantasm did it.

Hey guys... thanks for the praise ! I was quite impressed with how it came out myself

My transfer sheets were pretty generic (I'll check the brand later if you like) - and they too told me to use the highest setting for the transfer...

The vest is Polyester and I bought it for the princely sum of $3.80 from the 3-2-1 dollar store @ glenfield mall (after looking seemingly everywhere else for one!)

The vest says do not iron, and google told me that polyester should be ironed at about 1/3 - 1/2 temp. I first thought "bugger this'll never work" and my attempts at 1/2 temp went nowhere.

The $4 vest increased my braveness though, and I edged up the temp on the iron to about 80-85% of max and kep pressing hard. It took longer than it has done in the past on cotton t-shirts at full temp - but as you can see it worked pretty good.

Some of the bits were quite narrow (such as the web address), and I was worried about putting full heat on the vest - but in the end it didn't seem to matter - I even ironed over the reflective stripe - but it was all good - go the 321$ shop!

I used 2 sheets - the text and ACC/Nat logo are A4 Landscape width so al lthe text was done in landscape and the target on another sheet (with a smaller version of the whole thing that's on one side at the front)

If anyone wants the layouts, I'm happy to post them.....

how did you get it on without having a background? or does only the bit with color get transferred?

only the colour gets transferred on transfers "for white shirts". If I had any of the "for black shirt" transfers at the time, i would have done the ACC logo bit with that cos the blue ends up a bit green-y

Dont waste time posting the layouts, just come up here and do it for me....
I have two vests waiting to be enhanced....
Seriously, you have done a great job and the plus side is, you didnt have to buy a shirt two sizes bigger than you normally would....
