    Moonshine Trail Ride this weekend

    according to silver bullet.

Who's going? Any guesses at how wet and greasy it will be?

Last time I was there, it was the day after the enduro - complete mayhem

I'll probably be there. Did the karapoti circuit in the rain on Saturday - wasn't too bad, rock garden and devils staircase was a bit of a pain in the arse though, lots of clutch slipping on my 450!

The water has cut some big trenches in a few places which caused my bike to wedged in the trench a couple of times... but I doubt we'll be doing that area (devil's stair case/rock garden) anyway on an organised trial ride - some people would be in there until after dark, its a bit tricky for the average trial rider?

it'll be wet and greasy man. Good stuff. Miles away from the staircase though. I'll be there bright and early taking pics so if you do go (which i recommend) have a look through my web album a few hours after and see if you can find a goodie of yourself. I try to lurk around the A loops so go on... challenge yourself!

The enduro was mad slippery but great fun, it won't be that hard. They'll probably try to use more of the rock based roads for the trail ride i recon

This ride had a great mix of surfaces & I really enjoyed it. Got stuck in a rut on this steep clay hill both times - glad it was dry. And the AB forest loop onto Puketiro Rd buggered us C riders

If that's the climb I think it is (the one the boys always do in that Puketiro loop Kezz?) then yeah you'll be bloody glad it was dry!

Kinda gutted I missed this one, had a ball on the Motuiti track with LVN_ CR250 instead tho and my muscles are still hurting! Bloody tough track on the body when it's a mess like it was on Sunday eh Jason?

Great photo Andy Mac! Glad I didnt take that AB track and took the C option! It was a great ride and nice that it wasnt raining for a change! Well organised and marked out too I thought - well done Kapi Mani mc.
I heard you guys are planning to go back to Motuiti this weekend too RITTR? Any good for a novice like me?

Nope I'm not planning on going back this weekend but ya never know. Probably hit Long Gulley I'd say depending on the weather and what not, guess Motuiti's an option on Sunday if towns windy tho.

I know LVN_CR250 will be there tho, with a bunch of his mates and apparently the track's gonna be groomed by the weekend which it desperately needs!

I'd probably say you'd prefer it elsewhere myself, it's got a little learners track which is good for absolute learners but is really rather tiny and I think you'd get bored on it. And apart from that the only other option is the main track which is quite intimidating due to the soft rutted out sand that makes going anywhere a real workout! One mate that came with us that is usually not too bad only rode 3 laps coz he found it too hard to be any fun as he couldn't even hold enough speed through the sand to clear ANY of the jumps.

Worth it for a look at some stage but I think you'd prefer either,
Brooklyn (mx track to attempt and farmland to play on right down to the south coast)
Or Karapoti (similar to the trail ride you did on Sunday but FREE although take a map so you know where to go)
Or Tangimoana (wicked sand forest trails that ya just go for gold in, basically a free version of Aucklands Sandpit)

All got wicked riding but a bit more fun for a wider variety of rider skills. IMHO anyway!

Tangimoana is just north of Foxton. I've only done the trail ride there not the forest though, which I've heard is awesome!
Good to meet you yesterday Motor Mayhem. Was a good day aye?!

Thanks RITTR! You know how I feel about being intimidated by you fast riders all zipping past me!
Maybe Karapoti will be the go then...! Or back to Brooklyn on a non-windy day....
I'd love to have a play on the Moonshine mx track (but not when all you hoons are ripping around there!), anyone know how to go about arranging that?

Yeah ya definately have to pick your days with Brooklyn, good ones are few and far between but fully worth it when they come!
We'll have to sort out you coming with us to Tangi sometime, make a day of it with a barby in summer!

As for moonshine it's a no go unfortunately, ya can only get on there when they have club days and it's a case of entering the slow class and ya can go out for 3 18 min moto's (or there abouts). Not ideal when all ya want to do is muck around eh? Wish it could be ridden out of hours!

Good to put faces to the names. It was a hard work day, my clutch hand is still feeling the burn. But great fun, and good to know we earned a rest at the end of the day

I posted a few photos here

A well run ride (apart from the bbq)

why do there seem to be such a high percentage of dickheads riding quads?
