Thread: Bit of an Update, and need some help...

  1. #31
Back in the ''good old days'' an up for up pattern was from outerspace - my BSA Bantam handbook had a warning about it's reverse shift pattern,it was abnormal. My Guzzi Stornello has a down for up pattern, but it has a heel and toe lever, the heel part is made to be used from the pillion pegs in a ''racing crouch'' but this reverses the pattern - so the bike has two shift patterns depending where you put your feet...now you'd think that woulld confuse an old fart like me eh?...but I learnt to ride bikes when different shift patterns using different feet was normal, can't catch me out mate....

So,if there were different shift patterns and levers on the otherside, how come all bikes these days are the same? Thank ''the land of the free''...in about 1970 the Yanks made it law that all bikes had to have a left shifter with an up for up pattern. They rant and rave about their freedom of choice to have a gun...but that same country removed all motorcyclists freedom of choice on where and what shift pattern their gearbox had.

    True Bro.

Tell you what, give me all your bikes, and I'll get you some card, some macaroni some (non-toxic) glue, kiddy scissors, glitter etc.
Then when I'm out raceing your bikes you can be making pretty pictures in the safety of your own home!
PM me when it's convenient to pick bikes up.
    Chris

Hey Chris good luck in 600 - I've been wondering about doing that too but need a bit more practice first. Will be watching your progress with interest.

Get some skid knobs too - F1 Engineering do those and lots of other goodies. Ray Clee (RCM performance) is helpful too and could help with lots of bits. I think Brian Bernard is selling Karl Morgan's K4 - has all the goodies ready to go (ohlins shocks/springs/exhaust system etc) for $15k. Might be cheaper to fix your bike for the road, sell it and buy that one?
