    Te Aku coast road

I went out for a run from Te A thru to Te uku, then right and up to Te Aku. I had to return for work, but does anyone know if the coast road is gravel from Te Aku up to port waikato? I'm going back in Nov to do the complete ride to port waikato. Gravel doesn't worry me but curious if it is metal right through.

Gravel. But generally in very good condition. Sometimes there are fresh patches that can be a bit deep, but normally great.
    Enjoy.

I presume you turned down Te Akau Rd from SH22 at Dunmore? It turns to gravel just after Te Akau, and is mostly gravel to Port Waikato no matter what route you take.

Thanks for that, and just realised Te Aku is spelt Te Akau. I'll do that ride next wednesday up to P waikato.

Last time i headed out Te Akau was for the WRC and it was fairly thick gravel on the roads. I certainly wouldn't want to ride to port waikato!

Rode down from Port Waikato to Raglan a couple of weeks ago. The odd corner had a bit of loose stuff but easy riding.
