Yep, a small swarm went buzzing past from lane to lane on the Southern at one point after the turn around at Karaka (can't remeber where), but what I mainly saw was sensible people riding carefully and safely, and I was close to the back, too.

One query I do have is this:

If there is a gap in the staggered formation (say a rider pulls out for gas or things go awry at a roundabout - I saw both happen) should those in line behind the gap advance their position (breaking the no overtaking rule) to occupy the gap and make a tidy staggered formation again? Or is the gap just left?

I saw a few cars pull into such gaps and break up the line today.

Definitely advance your position if safe to do so. Try to avoid switching from left to right, all that does is move the problem back.

I damn well hope not, or I'd be averaging a crash a year. Try the Southern cross as a way of calculating averages: 100 bikes each riding 6000 km and an average of 3 prangs per event. That gives an average of one prang per 200,000 km.
    Time to ride

TV3 are now in the queue to kiss my hairy arse too.

Wankers - entirely focused on the bin.

I'm just preparing them an email to the effect of "kiss my hairy arse" and I'm watching other channels from now on.

TV1's coverage was great. So WTF is up with the tossers at TV3? Bloody good reason for boycotting any appearance on Campbell or other TV3 current affairs once this picks up momentum, after Tuesday
