A thought re 600cc bikes.

Given all thats happening with ACC levvies I suspect theres going to be a bunch of riders looking REALLY close at their bikes engine capacity.
Given that its 600cc and over bikes getting the biggest hike.

For those of ya not making sense of my ramblings MOST 600cc bikes have their GENUINE engine capacity clearly stated. Most of em displace less than 600cc

All of the sportsbikes do, so they can go one bore oversize without rendering themselves illegal for Supersport. Most are 598cc.

Stoopid how a Ducati Monster 696 (imagine a labrador puppy savaging a slipper) is regarded as more of a "threat" than a CBR600RR (Staffy chewing a toddlers face off).

The ACC proposal classifies the millionaires owners class of bikes to be over 601cc. This was their one gesture of kindness to the many on 600 fours.

What a bummer to be just over with say, a 636 or SV650 or 675

Trouble is I personally can't see any 600cc bikes that I would consider.

Im thinking there might be an industry here for reducing the capacity of some bikes a bit.

I don't think anybody looking at a GSXR 1000 is going to worry about the extra $250 over a 600. That won't be much compared to keeping a 1000 in tyres over a year alone.

But for someone looking at a SV650 - a GSXR 600 may be more tempting.

Having said that, i'm very glad i got a new runout K8 GSXR 600 back in April. It was much cheaper than the same K9... and surprisingly Suzuki didn't make its usual two yearly change for 2010 and the 600/750's will be the same as the K8.

Far more expensive than the piddling little $13-14 a week your all so worried about.
When I lived in Oz I was paying $1200 a year in combined rego'/ insurance,and that was 7 years ago so I have a hard time taking any of this seriously.
I'm just your average joe lunch box,I'm not well off,,but $13-14 a week,,,I just don't see the issue.

Just another way for the gubbermint to easily target people, engine size is already recorde all they have to do is say, oi you, give us more money. How much would it cost to record the hp for make/model/year? one person surfing the net @ 50k a year would do it i'd imagine!
