I'm just your average joe lunch box,I'm not well off,,but $13-14 a week,,,I just don't see the issue.
I'm just "joe lunchbox" too and i'm taking it VERY seriously. Rego and insurance on the Duc alone is over $1400 without the DR or the bloody car!!
I guess my lunchbox is a bit smaller than yours

Stoopid how a Ducati Monster 696 (imagine a labrador puppy savaging a slipper) is regarded as more of a "threat" than a CBR600RR (Staffy chewing a toddlers face off).
    Or a Yamaha XT660...

Ummed and ahhed here about getting back into it after a 6 year break.

    Yep, let's do it.
Got a 650 for some gravel fun and to take me fishing.

    Or BMW F650!!

At 37 KW (49 hp) of even worse, the Kawa KLR650, even less power!!
The value of my BMW F650CS must have plummeted!
    Great time to be buying!

Fuck Australia. What they pay has about as much to do with it as what they have on their sandwhiches.

The 650 singles aren't powerful beasts. They're practical, cheap to fix and a
sweet spot between enough power and fuel economy.

Not that the government gives a fark about fuel economy.
Looks like they would prefer us to drive SUV's to those places of interest.

Enjoyed the CHCH protest yesterday. It felt good and made me want to ride all the way up to Wellington right there and then.

The incentive is the shafting factor as much as the actual rego cost.

Better trade it in for a Honda CBR600RR or a Suzuki GSXR600 so ACC can breathe a sigh of relief as it is much safer to be on one of those six hundies. Twice as fast but 33% safer (~$500 in levy instead of ~$750).

All it will do is encourage the mentality of, If I am paying the same rego for everything from 601cc+, I might as well get a litre bike.

Or an RD350 or RG500 or H1 Kawasaki. Cos they're under 600 cc so are really friendly, safe bikes.

It was a simple example of how we're still better off than most other countrys.
And yes I do realise you probably don't give a damn what they have on their sandwiches,,,which "really" has nothing to do with it.

Its entirely meaningless, all systems in Aussie are different from ours, None of them have any bearing on the NZ Government attempts to take no-fault medical cover and apply higher charges to a specific group.

hell, If people can afford it or not is a secondary matter, Though amplified by the massive increase being enough to force a lot of riders off the road entirely, Even if you personally can afford it, even if you once paid similar amounts in Aussie, and even if you ate a Vegemite and cheese sandwhich while in Aussie. None of which have fuck all to do with anything.
