    Sorry Judith!

Aint the internet and Web 2.0 fabulous things?

Just joined the Judith Collins appreciation group on Facebook, and posted to her wall......

    Hi Ms Collins,

I am one of the many Papakura based people that voted for you in the last election.

    Congratulations!

Unfortunately, I have to inform you, due to the fact that I am a motorcyclist, and as such, am set to be totally shafted by your government, I will not be voting for you or National in the next election.

Although in principle I agree with most of your views, and support your stance on crime, particularly in our back yard, I will vote Labour on principal.

I'm sure it is no news to you that I am not the only person in Papakura that rides a motorcycle, nor am I the only one (rider or not) that will vote against you and your government to ensure ACC is preserved as the no fault system it was intended to be.

    Regards

    Nice move Ozzie
I have sent a similar email to my local MP in Kaikora, Colin King.
here in Greta Valley there are 9 bikers,
we have all done the same.
ths may not seem to be many, but its nearly 10% of the voting ability of our little village.
We all need to do this to all out MP's.

Unfortunately, just about everything I tried on John's wall was not allowed, but I got this up, short, but to the point.

    Mr Prime Minister

I voted for you and your party last election.

Rethink your party's approach to ACC, or you will loose the vote of me and all I influence.

At least one person has read John's wall

    Me……

    Mr Prime Minister

I voted for you and your party last election.

Rethink your party's approach to ACC, or you will loose the vote of me and all I influence.

    Some otha prat…
Yes, the changes will be tough, but I don't really see any other way- at all. If changes aren't made now it'll cost us all in the long run.
    Me…..
It will cost us all in the long run anyway, allow me to illustrate...

    1. Many bikers have more than one bike, if they register any, they will only do 1 moving forward, therefore actually reducing ACC income, without reducing the number of bikers km's done.

    2. Many bikers (such as myself) only ride during the summer months, I will be putting my rego on hold during the wet/cold months, therefore actually reducing the ACC income, without reducing the number of bikers km's done....

    3. Many students will give up their cheap scooters in favour of clapped out cars, reducing ACC income, increasing conjestion, increasing polution, an undoubtably not decreasing the overall number of accidents.

    4. The clear majority (80% or so) accidents involving a motorcycle also involve a car, and the majority of them are caused by the car.

    5. Acc is meant to be "no fault", now, National is not only differenciating rates based on fault, but targetting those increases at the victims of the accidents and injuries, not those who are causing it, this leads to taxing sports, cycling, walking, face it, it will impact everyone.

Perhaps, but it is National that is shortening the noose, and raising our levies.

Besides, I don't have to actually vote Labour, just need National to thinks that me and everyother biker in the country will, if they don't have a rethink.

I just read an email sent to Nick Smith by a mate and the last line reads..''My late father and myself have always voted National. If this farce goes ahead I will never vote for the Natrional Party again in my life''

That a weak response jim, you cant blame Graeme Henry for John Mitchells weak performance as All Black coach can ya? If the AB's fuck up, its who ever is in charge at the time that can expect the wrath from the supporters right?
    Same logic applies here.

I recieved the standard reply from my MP whenI approched him.
this is a copy of the reply I sent to Mike King, Kaikora electorate.

    Mr King.

Unfortunately the standard letter that you sent me re this issue is full of errors and miss-representations of the ACC programme

As I see it ACC is a no blame compensation system, not a public accident insurance system.

the conception of ACC was to stop major companies shafting the average citizen when it came to compensation for loss of earnings and or enjoyment of life due to accident or injury in or outside of employment.

It was never designed as profit business not as a welfare system, which it has morphed into over the past few years as changes away from its original concept has been brought into play by successive governments.

I personally own two motor vehicles aside from my motorcycle, I pay an ACC levy on these two vehicles as well as the ACC levy upon my motor cycle.

I there for pay three Acc LEVEYS, WHICH IN PRINCIPLE MEANS I SUBSIDISE MY MOTORCYCLE.

I have been riding motor cycles since the age of 15, and are yet to have a claim for ACC for a motoring accident related to my motorcycle or my vehicles. I am now ages 52, which is 37 years of no claims!

How can you justify the increase against the majority of riders when again it is a minority that cause the problem.

Sadly again I see this action as another erosion of my civil liberties in a so called free society.

The User Pays strategy being the function that has caused this erosion

What may you ask is the answer to this problem?

Listen to the people in the street, who vote you into power, before you listen to the statatitions who can twist the figures to blind you to the truth and present you with half truths claiming them as facts.

At this stage , I think that you are well aware that there is more than one problem with the figures your party has been supplied with to make these decisions.

There are private persons out in the community who can provide you with the truth.

It is a shame that you don't listen to them.
