One word, don't.....as in don't use it any more, it's cracking and will break usually causing damage to other parts when it lets go.
You did well spotting it, so now do the next step and get it checked by someone that really knows what they are talking about and either repair or replace.

Agreed, don't ride it anymore. Definately don't do the M3DE on it!

Like a sprocket, once it's started it'll just keep going and going. Take it into a shop and ask what the deal is.

im gunna check mine tommorow lol.

almost looks like the spokes were too tight and its pulled on the hub wall, and finally just work hardend, or it could just be a one in a million manufacturing fault that missed quality controll

Seen this before when the wheel has been over tighted it can cause stress cracks in the hub, take it into the shop to be sure.

on the plus side theres a lot of ktm owners on here who wont be doing the m3de, perhaps a generous one would lend a suitable wheel if you're not back in action by then

how tight do you run your chain ?

adjusted mine with shock out on sunday with the bike on the stand its so loose it looks silly but with sthe shock out and cs pivot and axle in line its got very little play

Chains never overtight its normaly got a bit of slack.
Also my spokes havn't been tightend for ages, i always cheak them and they seem fine, they have less tension than my front spokes anyway

Is this the sprocket side? You mention that the front sprocket lost teeth and you replaced bearings and these stress marks all lead me to believe the chain has been too tight, that will cause a hub to eventually break. KTM's need what at first appears to be a loose chain, once everything is inline they are not loose at all.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

    Good heads-up little whittle, cheers.
Wouldn't be the first KTM to have a cracked rear hub. A riding mate just replaced his 300 hub after a large crack appeared from sprocket side across to brake side.

If main issue is chain possibly being too tight (seems logical), method of checking tension as per KTM handbook not the best imo - i.e. from underneath, just behind slipper guide, push chain up to swingarm = 8mm to 10mm gap. Very awkward to do.

Been thinking it would be more accurate & a lot easier to measure from a position where you can more easily see how much slack, like maybe halfway between front & rear sprocket, from top of swingarm. To get a proper measurement, you really need some tension on chain to straighten out any kinks & take up slack in pins/bushes as well. I've just tried lying across seat and grabbing swingarm to line up centres but 80kg and weak arms won't do it.

I'm replacing my shock heim joint this week. With the shock out I'll take a closer look at chain tension at tighest point (As per tommorth) and report back. Might even think about making a chain tension guage for the toolbox.

Danger, a question for you: A chain that is even just a little bit too tight could significantly effect suspension action as well? Obviously one of those things that requires a bit of 'feel' to judge appropriate tension at tightest point of swingarm arc. Any suggestions?

Its the brake side. Nothing at all on the other side

maybe you should stop useing your rear brake

camchain just pull the shock its only two bolts and it slides straight out really easy one of the great things about having no linkage

When you say "nothing at all on the other side" do you mean the row of spokes on the other side of the hub or the surface immediately behind the marks in question?
