There's a 50/50 chance I'll be heading down to this one by myself tomorrow, so MIGHT have room for another if anyone needs a ride. Will find out if my mate is coming late this afternoon. I'm in Mt Eden.

A universal dream of greatness is that
We push ourselves to the limit
Yet still be brilliant when the chips are down.
Sometimes , The struggle kills the dream.
Haha nice work on the Hillclimb JT........guess 4 strokes are good for something aye
some info for next year:
Well run, and apparently popular ride. Supposed to be around 500 riders yesterday.
Note: Get there early for good parking especially if front-drive car & trailer. Car park paddock was high up on ridge that got narrower and steeper towards the end. Saw two guys slip off over the side, needed tow. Fresh cowpies be slippery!
A lot of steep country and stream crossings, so maybe not the best ride for a beginner. One drain crossing on main loop was getting well trenched on the other side & plenty getting stuck (although there was a narrow wee track off to the side that many seemed not to spot).
I reckon this ride was up there for the most creek crossings I've ever seen on a farm ride. Nothing too garly though, the creek bottom rocks not too big, so easy enough to hold your line through. (I'm a blouse who doesn't like getting his wet feet, managed to avoid need for a wet dab)
Main 'red' loop was a nice long excursion off main track (In pine forest). Lots of steep stuff with tight switchbacks. Mostly medium to fast type trails. Some v slippery and long downhill sections needed respect, saw some decent tree dings and skid marks heading off into the scrub.
Clay with lots of rocks & tree roots together in the trickiest places. Was tempted to drop tire pressures but potential for flats. The last climb just kept going up and up, my ears popped each time. Pretty cool I thought.
PS, don't want to be a 'boy scout' here, but with all the farm rides coming up, keep in mind these wouldn't happen without the continued goodwill of landowners and folks who organise the events. A wave/thumbs up to marshalls etc lets them know you appreciate what they're doing. I saw a cocky and pulled over for a moment to thank him for letting us use his property. Parts of farm tracks would have required a fair bit of work with spade or bully to put back into useable shape. A few thousand knobly-shod horsepowers sure chews things up.
Bwaaahaaahhhaahhaa!- I missed it for the first time in 5 years!
I rode the day before with a tour and had to spend the day working on business stuff to catch up- it sucks when you have to miss your fave.
I hope the rescue helicopter didnt get called this time? - and I hope Whytey's wife got the coffee cart? - she was working till the last minute to secure one!
great to read the write ups- CIVIL- did you make it in the end or where you stuck on the moral highground?
Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......
No never made it as I was required as Steward at a club race meeting.
Do you know what 'charity' you were supporting ?
