Considering that when you are pope you are pop till ya die they wont want a young guy in office ever. Imagine if the american presidency was the same way. Could you imagine 80 years or so of Bush? Nah they want someone that will keel over after a couple decades so they can put someone new in.

John Paul was in the hot seat for 30 odd years, wasn't he..?? just trying to remember what I heard on the news.. They obvisouly don't want too much mileage out of them now?
Makes you wonder what they get up to in that room they're locked in. That smoke has to be lit by something...

I vote myself for next pope.

I will chose my popename as "Aloucises the IIVCth"

And I will make all catholics roll one trouser leg up at all times. And know the entire rap of "Still D.R.E" Oh, and wear bandanas.

Now, who's going to vote for me? I promise to take the chuirtch to new and exciting places!

Isn't there a more 'dignifying' name than 'Aloucises'?

so close yet so far mate. i rather thought it was promiscuity that spread aids, not the lack of condoms. But then, I'm a christian, so what would i know?

what interests me about the pope being elected from germany is that they've recognised that catholicism in the west is really taking a downward turn and that they need to address that more than they need to promote yet more growth in latin america.

i beleive he's 78 but i guess it'll come down to how well he can look after himself in the next few years as to whether he's 'temporary' or a real mover and shaker... or mover and 'fix it down right where it is nower' as some are suggesting!

We're all off to hell tho, unless you've been living in the cupboard for your whole life. Least it'll be warm in hell.

Apparently he is a very traditional type of Catholic leader.
For example the news this morning said that he wants to have more contact with youth.......

Regarding the aids. Nothing to do with religion. Its unsafe sexual activities that can lead to positive HIV status. Once the HIV brews for a while you become AIDs positive. Condom use can reduce the risk, but apparently not remove the risk. Then there is the other ways of contracting HIV, but we will not get into that...
    JOKE (not catholic safe):
    Q. How do you make a nun pregnant?
    A. Dress her up as an alterboy!
