'Apparently' the rates of injury in 4 x 4 vehicles are significantly higher than sedans.
Anybody seen any data?
If it's a legit claim it would add to the discrimination angle.

I think that it is actually that injury rates in accidents involving SUVs are higher. The SUV occupants are safer , but the other vehicle fares worse .
however, the claim may be disinformative US figures.
SUVs do not (older ones anyway) have the same "crumple zones" as cars. In America they test cars with the dummy passengers not seat belted in. SUVs fare worse in such tests.
In NZ where everybody wears seat belts (insignificant exceptions) it's the other way round
