    Image is everything?

Last night, pulled up at the lights. Then it started to get dark, as some huge 4WD pulled up alongside - like a house on wheels, so I think it was a Hummer.

Anyway, I glance over... and there is "Rufty, Tufty" man in drivers seat, wearing the "I'm so cool" shades (it wasn't sunny) and the camo jacket. All obviously very carefully compiled to fit the "I'm a hard offroader" image.

Then he wound open his window... and the sounds of 'Toxic' by Britney Spears came wafting out...

I burst out laughing! Sorry, but Britney really doesn't fit the image! If it had been Blue Oyster Cult or Steppenwolf?

I was so glad the lights changed... he could probably hear my laughter as I rode away...

Moral: If image is that important, you really do need to think about the whole package.

That is sooo funny! But it's true.... these guys in oversized 4x4s.... do they really use it off road?? Most of them don't, so it really is an image and by the sounds of it, the guy you described is just trying too hard to be cool..... too much monies...... should send some to KB for our server upkeep!!!!

A few months ago I was driving home in my Pajero and pulled up at some lights next to one of my customers in his 4x4,,we exchanged greetings by showing each other various digits of our hands - then he holds up his left hand, palm open...and in his hand is a pistol!....you just never know what those 4x4 guys are doing!

the sad truth is that majority of the 4x4s out on the road come out with ruber that is usless offroad and suspension aimed at road only driving this doesnt bother people who buy them because all the want is to feel safer on the road...
this gives them the idea that because they are in a big vehicle other smaller ones will happily give way anytime they decide to change lanes or turn without indicating and that is precisly why biker gloves have hard nuckles

Got the 4WD, tints, stereo, mags etc etc. BUT, its how I got the thing and I don't really give too stuffs what it looks like, although I'm told it looks allright. Not much point in worrying as I'm inside it ana cant see what it looks like.

I saw a guy riding through Paihia on a gigantic Goldwing blasting "Leader of the Pack" from the stereo.

He appeared to have eaten all of the pack, by the size of him and the lack of any other kind of 'pack' anywhere.

It's a sad turth too, but it doesn't really work on me. I hold my road space. Especially when on my bike. I shouldn't be forced to move when two cars can easily pass. They should know how wide they are.

A boot to the door panel or fist to a mirror usually helps remind them to keep thier distance.
