Jake by the time your ready for the taylor treatment I would think you would have mastered your bike and upgraded your bike to something much more suitable to your needs....and you won't have 1inch chicken strips on your tires...
Dont be in such a rush this isn't boy racer country where the most bling gets the girls
I spent the best part of a year tuning my suspension and sorting my tyre combination for my style of riding and going from 2500k's to 11000k's for a back tyre and at $400+ each I wanted them to last a little longer than 6weeks,now after 60000k's in a little over 2 years I'm ready to get more power so the bike is being worked on now to do just that,
So when I get the bike back I will spend a while getting to know her again as the extra power changes a few things ie braking distances, when to apply power coming out of the corners![]()
Really depends on what you want too do lets say you want to do both front and rear suspension don't be susprised if you dont have change out of 2k and possibley costing more

Ride within your limits and worry about the other stuff when your starting to push the bike to the end of its limits.... when that happens your more than likely at the stage of getting a bigger bike and all the money wasted on suspension wont have any resale value.....
As everyone else has told you get seat time learn good habits and the rest will come to you.
I’ve had a few old bikes like my 89ZXR750 and never worried about suspension set up but did play around to see if something worked better than something else. You’d be surprised how many people on here rave about Dr T and his knowledge, but you’d be more surprised at how many have received free advice.

Get it to a track day. And don't put on another set of bloody sport demons. Get Dunlop GPR A10's or Bridgestone BT90's. I don't know of any other small bike tires that compare. Maybe Michelin Pilot Power's would be worth a try. I'm not just plugging, but go to Cycletreads, many of the staff race, and they will give you good advice if you are clear about what you want. You want the best you have to tell them that, because most riders just want cheap and excellent mileage.
As has been said don't bother with mods. Suspension might improve the bike a bit but not worth the expense at your level, or on that bike. Get good tyres and get track time. You will have a blast and you will get awesome fast.
As vtec kinda said the best mods you can make are to you.
Go to a few trackdays and learn how to ride it properly.
Nothing you can do to the suspension etc will make it good. It's an old bike with suspension designed for a 50kg rider so you just have to learn to get the most of it.
Exert your talents, and distinguish yourself, and don't think of retiring from the world, until the world will be sorry that you retire. -Samuel Johnson
