I have some old license plates - probably long gone off the system as the vehicles were taken off the road a good 15+ years ago.
Am I legally allowed to sell them?
Or should I dump them and walk away quietly?

It's illegal even to possess them, if they are the current sort.
The old coloured ones, those are OK, you can sell them. But they'd be way more than 15 years old.

Completely illegal. Posession, let alone use of such plates can incur a very significant fine.
Prevent funding contributions for further MP trips to Paris and send em' back.
keep em tucked away for a few years. collectors will pay nicely for old plates. i dont have any new zealand ones, but do have an american and canadian one. southwards has a great collection of old plates as well.
